Transportation News

Have you seen the latest Food Link van driving around? We are affectionately calling it "Little Link." Little Link may be smaller than our other van, but it has a great superpower - refrigeration! A refrigerated vehicle will keep our food fresher for longer distances as Food Link continues to expand its reach throughout eastern Massachusetts.

Staff Updates

Food Link's Program staff is growing and changing.  In the coming weeks, Food Link will be hiring a new Volunteer Program Associate.

Don't worry, Alex Kramer is not leaving Food Link.  Alex will now have the role of Logistics Coordinator. She will coordinate the day-to-day logistics of our food rescue operations and partner relations. This will include: coordinating last-minute pick-ups, tracking distribution, and ensuring our facilities and vehicles are well maintained.

If some of that sounds like what Elise Springuel does, you are right.  Elise will shift into the role of Operations Manager. She will continue to manage the Operations Team, but step back from daily operations work. In her new role, Elise will plan the move into the Food Link Hub and model scaling up our operations. She will manage the creation of new inventory and volunteer scheduling systems and identify strategic areas for growth.

Food Link Hub

The Food Link Hub is under construction, and on schedule to open at the end of 2020!  Only the outside work is visible, but that work hints at some of the new accessibility features of the building. On the east end, you can see the ramp and on the west end, construction has begun on a lift, which will provide interior access between floors.  Food Link is committed to serving a diverse community of people.

Learn more about the Hub, and how it will help Food Link to increase its impact on the environment and food insecurity in eastern Massachusetts by visiting the new Hub website.
