Cyndi's List has been a trusted genealogy research site for more than 20 years. Cyndi's List is free for everyone to use and it is meant to be your starting point when researching online.

What exactly is Cyndi's List?

  • A categorized & cross-referenced index to genealogical resources on the Internet.
  • A list of links that point you to genealogical research sites online.
  • A free jumping-off point for you to use in your online research.
  • A "card catalog" to the genealogical collection in online resources.
  • Your genealogical research portal onto the Internet.

Railroads and photography were among Harold Sanborn's (1912-2002) greatest passions. Sanborn captured the essence of small town railroad depots, whistle stops, and the end of the steam era in railroading.

Legend, Legacy & Lore Series: Stories of Lakeland
Discover Lakeland's history through video, images, maps and text through Story Map Journals.  At the end of each journal is a chance to test your knowledge with a short trivia quiz.  Submit the form and you can take home a historic button or two.

Begin a summer project by putting your personal archives in order.  Watch librarian Rebecca Whalon's video to get you started with helpful hints and  best practices for preserving and organizing your photographs, documents and other materials.

Green Hat and White Gloves Lake Mirror Tour

You are cordially invited to delve into Lakeland’s history with Miss Serena Bailey (the first city librarian 1929-1959). Whilst strolling around the promenade of Lake Mirror you will be regaled with tales touting personable people, premier places and the astounding achievements of our fine city. 
Tours are offered the 2nd Tuesday of the month, space is limited!
