It's always a good idea to sift the very small particles out of your soil before potting. This helps aeration by keeping your soil cleaner and reducing clogging around the drain holes.

The primary components are 1/3rd hard Akadama 1/3rd Pumice - and 1/3rd Black Lava, with small amounts of Horticultural Charcoal to harbor beneficial bacteria and add humic acid, and Decomposed Granite to add weight and structure.
This soil mix offers optimal drainage and water retention (excess water drains quickly while optimal amounts for root absorption are held in the pores of the soil particles). Unlike most dark pots, Mica helps maintain safe soil temperatures rather than overheating in the hot sun. Mica also can withstand the ravages of extreme cold.
