Second-Half Semester Courses  

It's not too early to begin thinking about second-half semester courses! Beginning the week of October 5, courses in topics ranging from ice skating to Russia Today to economics will be offered. Courses include 1-3 credit offerings. Note: there are two Econ courses taught second half as Econ 194x sect. 1 and 3.

Scheduling with ISUAppointments 

Many advisers and offices on campus ask students to schedule an appointment through ISUAppointments in AccessPlus through the Student Tab. Find a helpful guide linked here to complete the scheduling process through ISUAppointments. Note: the screenshots do not include alternate F20 options for virtual and phone appointments. 

 

Art-2-Go

The Workspace in the Memorial Union is offering "Art-2-Go" craft supplies for students. Additionally, the space remains open for studio usage. Drop in hours are Mondays through Fridays 2-9PM and Saturdays 10AM-4PM. Find more info here.

Fall 2020 Career Fairs

 

Mark your calendars now for the upcoming Fall 2020 Career Fairs. All fairs will be held virtually this fall. The CALS Virtual Career Fair will be held Tuesday, October 13 and Wednesday, October 14. Each of these three fairs will be held from 10-5PM on the scheduled dates. More information will be forthcoming as the semester unfolds.

Econ Club will be hosting Bella Pratt from the J.R. Simplot Group. Simplot is an agribusiness company, founded and based in Idaho. Bella Pratt will be discussing job- and internship-searching in the age of COVID, and preparing for virtual career fairs.

Research Assistant, Brooking Institution

The Economics Studies Program at the Brookings Institution is seeking a team of six to eight research assistants. These assistants are hired for two year appointments, preferably beginning between June 1 and August 1. Applicants will need to submit a cover letter, resume, two letters of recommendation, and a transcript. The application deadline is October 15, 2020. Find more information here

Part Time Jobs

Part Time Help, Lindgren Farms 
A farm close to Ames is seeking part time help with flexible hours. Applicants with a CDL are preferred. For more info or to apply, call Justin Lindgren at 515-370-1973. 
Part Time Help, A&W Farms
This Cambridge, IA-based operation is looking for seasonal labor with the possibility of full time employment on a commercial/organic row crop farm this fall.  The ideal candidate would have some interest in organic production and would help focus on that part of the operation. Duties would include but are not limited to:
  • Daily chores for grass fed beef on cover crop pasture ground
  • Run Tractor and grain cart while harvesting
  • Operate semi to haul grain to local elevator and bins on the farm
  • Operate semi to haul grain to terminal points in the off season
  • Maintenance of equipment
  • Light fall tillage
  • Seeding cover crops
  • Other farm related duties as needed
