Services in September

Please visit:  www.allsaintslindfield.org/sundays

For information about our planned services in September, including clarifications on 'Test and Trace', please visit our website using the link above. Because of the reduced capacity at our services we will be operating a book-in system (except for 8.00am), this will be available each week from 9.00am on Monday until 12noon on Friday, starting on Monday 31 August. You can also book by phoning the church office on 01444 482405 before 12noon each Friday. For those unable to attend, through continued shielding or because services are 'fully booked' you will be able to watch the 9.15am and 7.00pm service live streamed on our YouTube channel.

Roger and Eileen Scofield

Many Congratulations to Roger and Eileen who celebrate 60 years of marriage, their Diamond Anniversary, on Thursday 3 September. During their life together they have had many adventures but their testimony to the faithfulness of our Father God has never faltered. With much love from their immediate and church family.

Youth Update

There is plenty of work being done to ensure that our young people can, once again, gather together. Whilst we are not quite at the stage where a full plan can be published, I would like to share the following details with you:
  • We shall no longer be meeting in The Tiger, but in the church
  • Masks shall be mandatory for all who attend
  • We are looking at restarting in late September.

Please pray for the following:
  • Give thanks to God that we are able to meet again
  • That we would not mourn what is lost, but that we would be thankful for what we are able to do – and that we would be excited and joyful in the face of whatever the future holds
  • For wisdom and humility as we seek to make the decisions necessary for this branch of the youth ministry to restart
  • That we would trust in the Lord's timing, provision and purposes.
I look forward to sharing a full plan with you all soon.
Jonny Payne, Youth Pastor

All Saints Kids

Look out for weekly videos with "Janine and Bertie" each Sunday in August at 9.00am on the church Facebook page.

Calling new delivery volunteers to help during the autumn

We are looking for extra flexible help in the autumn with delivery of the Tiger@Ten newsletter. Tiger@Ten is still unable to meet so the newsletter will continue to be a key way of encouraging each other, and keeping connected. The rounds will be limited in size and geographical distance. A large social aspect of the role are the doorstep conversations! Please contact Carrie (07902 289436) if you have a few hours available to support seniors.

Bike for Bibles

Like many other charities the Bible Society is being adversely affected by the coronavirus pandemic, particularly in the developing world. On Saturday 19 September Andrew Nunn is taking part in a 100 miles sponsored bike ride for the Bible Society, his target is £1,000. He would welcome your support; here is the link to his Just Giving web page

Can you help with stewarding?

We are planning the return to church in September with 3-4 services, with a smaller number of people attending, observing social distancing and with some services specifically aimed at those more vulnerable. Of course, any of our plans at the moment are subject to change depending on government guidelines.
A number of our normal welcome team are in the position where they are not able to return to stewarding/welcome duties at the moment, so I am looking for some additional people who would be willing to come on board and join a rota for stewarding for services either just on a fairly temporary basis or more longer term. The role shouldn’t be onerous, but we do need some more people to help out please, to enable us to be able to cover these roles. Face masks and gloves will be provided for welcome team members, if volunteers don’t have them. You will be fully briefed on how the role has now changed and how much time it will take up, should be no longer than an hour for each service.
If you think you could help or would like to know more, then please do contact me or Steve Norris either by phone at the church office: 01444 482405 or via email: sarah@lindfield or stephen.norris@lindfield.info. Many thanks.

Caring for God's Creation

Ruth Valerio, Director of Global Advocacy and Influencing at Tearfund has recently written a blog about "Covid-19 and looking forward towards a better world" from a Christian and theological perspective. This blog is an extract from a chapter Ruth wrote in a Grove Booklet “Covid-19 – Environment, Justice and the Future”.

This week's Mission Partner Focus: Open Doors

"If one part suffers, every part suffers with it." 1 Corinthians 12:26
This time we set out a list of some of the work Open Doors has done in the last year:
  • distributed over 1.8 million Bibles and Christian books in countries where such things are prohibited or difficult to obtain.
  • trained more than 3.8 million persecuted Christians through leadership and discipleship courses, trauma care training and persecution survival seminars.
  • working through partners organised several camps for more than 400 children in Myanmar. These camps have a big impact.
  • helped over 700,000 persecuted Christians with emergency relief, community development, education and medical care
  • from the UK Parliament to the White House, from the EU to the UN, brought the plight of the persecuted church family to the ears of some of the most powerful people in the world.
  • Supported as many as 60,000 Christians in North Korea
Please continue to pray for the work of Open Doors particularly in the countries most affected by Covid-19 where Christians are often left out of food and aid distribution such as in India & Pakistan.
