We are at the tail end of a beautiful Northern summer, and as we enjoy the last flourishes of it, we hope you've had a chance to spend some time with family and friends. Autumn always brings with it a certain kind of energy; the anticipation of a new school year together with the loss of the long days and warm nights. You'll notice that there are many more opportunities in the grants section, as fall is the time when many grants open up for their yearly competitions. We want to let you know that our office can assist you with your grant applications, so feel free to reach out to us at research@nosm.ca As always, please encourage your colleagues to subscribe to this newsletter and if you have any ideas or if you want to include something in an upcoming issue, please email research@nosm.ca
Happy reading and happy researching!

Graduate Studies
The Research and Graduate Studies Office is very pleased to announce the inaugural cohort of the Master in Medical Studies (MMS) program. Short biographies for each student can be found on the MMS website.
Throughout the course of their studies in the MMS program, these students will gain foundational research skills in order to answer pressing health care questions. The program coursework will focus on developing the necessary skills to acquire grant funding, obtain ethics approval, develop a research question and appropriate methodology. Each student will also complete a research thesis, thereby applying theses skills to their chosen research study. The goal of the MMS program is for learners to focus on health care problems in the north, thereby improving the health of all people in northern, rural, and remote communities. More information on the program can be found here.
