MIDDLE EASTERN COOKING BY MANAR
July 9, 2020
|
|
What's the lunch menu? Asked 15 women.
Starters: Shourbet Adass (One pot Lentil Soup)
Mains: Kafta Batenjan (Kofta Eggplant rolls), with vermicelli rice
Sides: Batata Harra (Spiced Potatoes), Loubyeh (Green Beans) and Laban (Garlic Yogurt)
Desserts: Baklava and Ice lollies for the kids.
It was a great day making this delicious Middle Eastern food from scratch and learning something new and different. We all had our Aprons on and straight into the kitchen cooking ourselves lunch under the supervision of Manar. She made things so easy for us. We sat down and had the meal made by all of us. To finish off Manar had made Baklava. The most popular middle eastern dessert.

There were laughter, coffee and biscuits and some friendly competition as we learned games new to most of us expertly explained by Paula. If you have a free Monday morning, come along next month for Mahjong.

WINGS THEME MEETING
August 5, 2020
|
|
WINGS made a virtual tour to Argentina on the 5th of August. Flying the Flight was our lovely member Maria Cruz.
Keep calm and drink Mate - A traditional drink shared with families and friends. Mate is a national drink of Argentina. This caffeine-rich infused drink is made from dried leaves called yerba mate through a metal straw (Traditionally Silver). Yes, we all had a sip of it.
Traditional Food - Empanadas, a deep-fried or baked dish filled with sweet or savory stuffing. Our host Maria and her team made this delicious dish for us to try, indeed a mouth-watering dish it is. Other dishes highlighted were Locro, Humita, Asado, Puchero, Alfajores.
Tango Cafe Bar - We all know about Tango, don't we? Well, Argentina has Tango Bar where you can sip your coffee and enjoy the famous Tango dance.
We ended the evening with a beautiful presentation of the gorgeous landscape of Argentina.
So Argentina is now on my bucket list of places to visit. What do you think?

Three teams played amongst each other, the competition was tough. 13 of us, all came in with some or no experience at all but I must say we all came out being a pro, earning from others techniques and our own mistakes.
We had an enjoyable evening, tired ofcourse as we played 2 games of 10 pin bowling back to back.
