Morning All!
Another busy week for me, as it has been great to catch up with some of you and see how everything is going in Level 2 and we are nearly into September. Where has the year gone?

We are a couple likes off our 2020 goal for our Facebook page nearly 250 followers! We are so happy to be reaching thousands of people in and out of the region each month via our Facebook page. It's a great opportunity for our Member organisations to advertise events and services to the wider public.

Please note:
- Alzheimer's Tairawhiti/Gisborne Memory Walk has been postponed
- Spud in a Bucket will be available from the Farmers Market on 5th September 2020.

Have a great week, Stay Safe and well!

MSD - COMMUNITY CAPABILITY AND RESILIENCE FUND - $36 Million
The Community Capability and Resilience Fund (CCRF) is a fund available to community groups for initiatives that support the rebuild and recovery from COVID-19. The $36 million fund is available from 1 August 2020 to support communities over the next
two years.

The CCRF builds on the success of the Community Awareness and Preparedness Grant Fund (CAP Fund), which was established by the government to provide immediate support to communities during the COVID-19 lockdown. The CCRF allows the success of the CAP Fund to continue on a larger scale. Like the CAP Fund, the purpose of the CCRF is to provide assistance and support for community groups working with priority populations as they respond, rebuild and recover from the impacts of COVID-19.

NEW LOTTERY COVID-19 INITIATIVES FUND - $40 Million
The Right Honorable Tracey Martin has announced the 'Lottery COVID-19 Community Wellbeing Fund' of $40 million to focus on Community and Social initiatives.

“Community groups responded incredibly to the initial lockdown and continue to play a vital role in supporting the most vulnerable people and communities,”
Minister Martin said.

“The Lottery Grants Board wants to help these groups as they provide support, rebuild and strengthen our communities and help with the recovery.

“The funding will be able to be used to support groups that have lost access to funding sources, have extra demand on their services or are now working in different ways in responding to COVID-19.”

The Fund will provide one-off grants and is expected to be up and running in the last quarter of the year.

GISBORNE
The 2020 General Election will now be held on 17 October along with the End of Life Choice and Cannabis referendums.

Postal voting – 0800 number – registration volumes
The postal voting registration period offered via our national call centre will now be extended to Wednesday 23 September as a result of the change to the election dates. Given registration opened on 31 July, voters will have just under 8 weeks in total to apply to vote by post via the 0800 number. Other key dates have been ‘lifted and shifted’ are:
  • Saturday 3 October to Friday 9 October: Voters who have registered will receive their postal voting packs in the mail
  • Saturday 3 October: Voters can begin to drop their postal voting papers – or have their papers dropped – at a voting place from this date
  • Wednesday 14 October: Voters must mail their postal voting papers back to us on or by this date
  • 7pm Saturday 17 October: If they have not posted their postal voting papers, voters must drop their papers – or have their papers dropped – at a voting place by this time.
Voters who had already registered before the change of Election date will now receive a further letter confirming that their registration still applies and letting them know the new dates when they can expect to receive their voting pack.
