Hello and welcome to the UK Safer Internet Centre Insider. Every month we will bring you the latest stories and updates from the three partners in the UKSIC: Childnet International, The IWF (Internet Watch Foundation), and SWGfL (South West Grid for Learning).
SWGfL release new Blended Learning Resource

Blended Learning is a two-way process of teaching. The first is using face to face interaction to educate (in school) whilst the second is through electronic platforms to educate online (also known as remote learning). The model is used to maximise the educational impact on children and young people, in and out of the classroom.The resource breaks down certain topics and offers safeguarding advice to consider.

Childnet release 25 ideas for embedding online safety throughout school curriculum  

With the full time return of Scottish schools and schools in England, Wales and Northern Ireland due in September, our partners at Childnet have produced a resource to support teachers in embedding online safety throughout the curriculum. To help you do this in your school, they have created a new primary and secondary leaflet that can be downloaded.

IWF launch a new reporting portal for Madagascar

For the first time, people in Madagascar will have a place to safely report “intolerable” online videos and images of child sexual abuse as the country steps up to help protect children. A new reporting portal, set up by our partners at Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) was launched earlier this month.

The portal has been set up along with the Madagascan Ministry of Population, Social Protection and Women’s Empowerment, with help from UNICEF.

 UKSIC Helplines: Impact of COVID-19

Throughout the lockdown period, UKSIC helplines experienced a huge shift in the amount of traffic they were receiving. In this  blog, POSH (Professionals Online Safety Helpline) and Report Harmful Content explain some of the trends they saw throughout this time.
