President's Message
By Jennifer Mitchen, ISAHU President 2020-2021
How are you? NO REALLY. HOW ARE YOU DOING?
I, for one, am just OK. Not good, not bad, just OK. As a self-proclaimed “extreme extrovert”, COVID has been really hard on me. And not just because I have school aged kids, but believe me, much sleep has been lost in my household with all of the decisions we have had to make. Let’s just say that I am VERY thankful that my 3rd and 5th grade girls are back in school, in person! We are very blessed that we have our health, a roof over our heads, jobs, etc…. but at the end of the day, I JUST MISS SEEING PEOPLE! Plus, I have had a serious case of “mascne”… that is mask acne, in case you are wondering.
Anyway, I just wanted to check in with you. If you are NOT ok, please let me know if there is anything I can do to help you. In fact, did you know that NAHU has created a COVID relief fund?

In a crisis, there was the vision. In the vision, there was Pat Griffey.
She said she wanted to listen more, talk less, and understand better. Here's how she did it while helping Health Underwriters navigate membership decline, COVID-19, and a series of new initiatives.

Remembering Jesse Patton
“It is with great sorrow that I share with you that long time NAHU member and active member of HUPAC Jesse Patton of Iowa passed away peacefully in the ICU this past weekend after battling multiple health issues since last year. He was a NAHU icon, whether sharing the stage with President Bush or giving his time and talent to NAHU. He was on the “honor roll” of HUPAC, always making a 100% contribution. That is who he was, always giving 100%. From all of us at HUPAC he will be greatly missed.”
– Chris Hartman, Vice President of Congressional Affairs

Now is the time to contribute to ISAHU-PAC. It's going to be a busy session.
ISAHU has long been overlooked as the Experts in the field & ISAHU should be called upon first, if a Legislator has any questions regarding proposed Legislation that will impact Health Care Insurance & related Products.
Had ISAHU had been called upon regarding Senate Bill 184, ISAHU would have expressed our concerns regarding this proposed Bill. It is too late, as it has passed & the Governor has signed it into law, effective July 1, 2020. We may be able to suggest some changes in the upcoming 2021 Legislative Session.
Read more from David Berman, past ISAHU-PAC Chair, on the value and purpose of the PAC.
