VETERAN COURTNEY, RECSTUFF RACING BACK HOME AT
ROAD AMERICA THIS WEEKEND IN 3-RACE SRO GT4 SPRINTS

New Mercedes-AMG GT4 sports car promising after 3 2nd Places at VIR last month

ELKHART LAKE, Wis. (Aug. 25, 2020) – Jeff Courtney and his RecStuff.com Racing team have been eyeing the return to their home track, Road America.

The Milwaukee driver seeks another coveted Pirelli GT4 America Sprint victory this weekend (Aug. 28-30) at the famed four-mile road circuit north of his hometown.

Courtney, the 2018 SRO America GT4 Sprint series champion, made the switch from his popular Maserati Grand Turismo MC sports car to a new No. 99 Mercedes-AMG GT4 machine earlier this year, and, after a few teething issues, the veteran sports car driver showed excellent speed last month at VIRginia International Raceway with three runner-up finishes in the 50-minute sprint events.

Now, Courtney comes back home with his new mount in search of reaching the top step of the podium beginning this Friday in the first GT4 Sprint event set for 12:20 p.m. CDT.

The other two Pirelli GT4 America GT4 Sprint 50-minute races this weekend at Road America will take place Saturday at 9:40 a.m. CDT and Sunday at 3:05 p.m. CDT. All GT4 Sprint races can be viewed live on www.gt4-america.com and www.YouTube.com/GTWorld.

“I am looking forward to getting back in the car after the month and a half layoff, and hoping our home track will help me find some immediate racing rhythm,” said Courtney, who won one race and placed second in the other two years ago in SRO GT4 Sprint action at the legendary Wisconsin road circuit. “It’s always nice to come back to our home track and we certainly have high hopes of getting back to the victory lane again this weekend.”

Last month at VIR, Courtney and his new No. 99 RECSTUFF/KENDA.com Mercedes-AMG GT4 sports car showed the speed to battle for the win in each of the three GT4 Sprint Am contests. Jeff admits the new Mercedes-AMG is a big contrast from the Maserati Grand Turismo MC which he piloted for some five years.

“This Mercedes is a great race car and I am getting more and more comfortable trying to squeeze every once out of it,” said Courtney.

Qualifying for the Road America GT4 Sprint races takes place this Friday at 8:30 a.m. CDT with the first GT4 Sprint 50-minute contest scheduled Friday afternoon at 12:20 p.m. CDT at the historic 14-turn road course.

CBS Sports Network highlights coverage for GT4 Sprint races at Road America airs Sept. 10 at 9 p.m. EDT.
