Last chance to sign up for the next Jazz Connector Zoom Discussion

Continuing our fortnightly Jazz Connector online meet-ups, IMC would again like to invite all the communities of people who make up the jazz world in Ireland - musicians, promoters, educators and venues - to come together for an informal Zoom meet-up on Thursday August 27th from 1:30 - 3:00PM to discuss:

The State of the Nation: The Irish jazz community and IMC’s musician survey results.

In early 2020, IMC conducted a survey amongst Irish jazz musicians, and gathered valuable information from the respondents on income streams, payment models, and different career structures amongst other things. At this meeting, we would like to share and discuss the results of this survey, looking at the current state of the Irish jazz community and what is needed to support Irish jazz and improvising musicians sustainably into the future.

PLEASE REGISTER YOUR INTEREST below to attend. You can also let us know if there are any particular topics that you would like us to cover in this or future discussions.

If you missed out on the last meeting, you can read all of the talking points that were discussed here.

BIRD: The Music of Charlie Parker - Live from Arthur's

August 29th marks a significant centenary. It will be 100 years since the birth of jazz icon Charlie Parker.

It also marks 20 years since IMC released Ronan Guilfoyle's BIRD album. Under the moniker Lingua Franca, that album was a celebration of the iconic music associated with Charlie Parker. It featured music written by him, jazz standards made famous by him and also original music dedicated to him.

To celebrate this important centenary, a stellar cast of Irish musicians will perform the BIRD album live in its entirety. Keeping it in the family and recreating the recorded format, Irish bassist Ronan Guilfoyle will be joined by Chris Guilfoyle on guitar, Conor Guilfoyle on drums (collectively known as 3G) while saxophone duties will be in the astutely capable hands of Chris Engel

We do hope you’ll join us live for this concert at 8pm on Saturday August 29th. While we know that an online show is not the same as a live performance, we want to mark this important anniversary while presenting a great live show that everyone can enjoy safely from home. Your link will be valid for 24 hours in case you'd like to enjoy the show later, or simply want to watch again.

Book Tickets

While we'd love for as many musicians as possible to buy tickets, we recognise that many of you will have lost the majority of your income in the last few months. We also want to gather as much feedback from you as possible on this format of 'live' music. So, if you'd like to participate in a short survey after the event then you can avail of a free 'Performer Promo' ticket by using this code at checkout:
