Rebuilding Lives in Abaco.

Restoring Hope in Treasure Cay

Dear Friends of Treasure Cay:

It has been nearly one year since the devastation of Hurricane Dorian on Great Abaco Island. As we all know, it has been a difficult journey for so many reasons. Progress has been made, but there is still much work to be done.

First let me say that the purpose of this letter is not to solicit donations. We are a  group of caring individuals like yourselves that have banded together to create Abaco Strong and we are reaching out to a select group of individuals. We just received our 501(c)(3) nonprofit status and we are ready to go to work. Our mission is "
To enable the rebuilding of sustainable businesses and communities in The Abaco Islands.” Our focus is to continue the work that has been done in Treasure Cay by  “Treasure Cay Community”, with the hopes of expanding to other areas of Abaco in the future. The umbrella of the nonprofit will give us the ability to fund raise more effectively through our donor base, and also make it possible to seek grants from the government or from private foundations. We are still finalizing our website, however, you can take a sneak peak here https://abacostrong.org, and learn a little bit more about our story. Feel free to visit our new Facebook Page as well which we will be using in the future to spread the word.

You are receiving this letter  because you have been identified as an individual that has been instrumental in the recovery of Treasure Cay and the surrounding communities, and a force for good in the rebuilding of Treasure Cay Community. We are so grateful for your time and effort spent on relief and rebuilding efforts. We want to include all voices including residents of Treasure Cay and surrounding communities, second homeowners, business owners, and government leaders.

We are planning to launch our new website and our first fund raising campaign on September 1st, the one year anniversary of Hurricane Dorian, and we hope that you can support us in our efforts. We would like to invite you to be on The Abaco Strong Advisory Council. You will not be required to attend regular meetings or vote on board decisions,  however we may contact you from time to time for support, and your name would be listed on our website and email distributions as an Advisory Council Member. You can help us to be successful by lending your voice and helping us to spread the word.

It has been amazing to see so many people that have given of their time, money, and energy to support our friends in Abaco and to help restore the community. We see an opportunity to create unity and continue the work that has been done by Treasure Cay Community,  NARI, TCCF, Team Ghosts, TCPOA, and many more. We all have the same goal, and that is to bring Treasure Cay back to a vibrant community, and we hope that you will join us in our efforts.

Please respond to marthafleury6@gmail.com at your earliest convenience with your willingness to join our advisory board. We look forward to working together to bring back Treasure Cay.

Sincerely,

Martha Fleury, President
Dan Proctor, Vice President
Emmy Whitney, Secretary/Treasurer
Stacy Phillips, Board Member
John Fleury, Board Member
