Hello, welcome to my latest newsletter. This edition includes: a worrying surge in Covid-19 assaults on our officers; a £280,000 community investment to improve road safety in West Mercia; an unlicensed music event dispersed in Telford; my take on an £80 million plan to help criminal courts recover from the Covid-19 pandemic and a conversation about why diversity, equality and inclusion are important in policing.

My

I am highlighting an unacceptable surge in Covid-19 and spitting assaults on officers.

West Mercia Police have recorded 52 separate offences since March.

I caught up with Redditch Council to discuss a joint crime strategy

Alongside Redditch Council leader and deputy leader, Matthew Dormer and Mike Rouse respectively, I visited Redditch Town Hall.

Here we discussed a range of issues, including how to continue our partnership in working together to keep the people of Redditch safe.

In 2018, 1,784 people were killed on Britain’s roads, including 456 pedestrians and 48 children. 25,511 people were also seriously injured.

The Government is currently reviewing roads policing and, as Commissioner, I am keen to hear your views to help inform my response to them.
