The Morton Arboretum is administering an Urban and Community Forestry Grant program with funding provided by the United States Department of Agriculture Forest Service through the direction of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.
This grant provides funds for an inventory of public trees and an accompanying urban forestry management plan. Complete both an inventory and a management plan; or complete a management plan based on an existing, digital inventory that was updated in the last 4 years. For this cycle, there are no funds available for tree planting. Tree planting may be used as match with some limitations, as noted in the RFP.
Please note the following:
grant awards are available for a minimum $3,500 and a maximum $20,000
this grant requires a 1:1 match or 50% cost-share. An applicant receiving $10,000 must contribute $10,000
eligibility: units of local government in Illinois, not including state and federal
municipalities, townships, tribal governments, counties, forest preserves, park districts, and others are all eligible
in this grant cycle, schools, libraries, and other public entities that are not governments are not eligible
Applications are due Friday, September 25th, 2020, at 5:00 p.m.
