Thoughts and Prayer
Labor day is here and that means summer is coming to an end. I don't need to tell you it's been a strange summer, a scary one even. I wish the oddity and scariness would end with the season, but we know we have a way to go yet.

We plan to begin having face to face services again, indoors, on September 13th, barring a change in our community's or state's virus situation. We'll have lots of procedures to stay safe, so (again) it may feel strange or odd. Still it will be good, for those who can, to be together. Please know that worshipping at home, as you've been doing  all summer, is perfectly faithful as well.

More information about our plans are coming soon, but for now mark down that we are moving our service time slightly to have time for Sunday School at 9:00. (See below for more information.) Worship will be at 10:15 a.m. starting September 13th.

Here is a prayer that speaks to me of the end of summer:
From your hands, creating God, come the shape of the land, the warmth of fire, the mystery of shadows, the feel of skin. From your mouth, mighty Spirit, flow the sound of thunder, the whisper of rain, the stillness of dawn, the humming of night. May I touch, O God; O Spirit, may I hear.

Worship this coming week

Labor Day Weekend we invite you to join The National Cathedral for a Holy Eucharist live-streamed service. As our nation pauses in unison to celebrate the contributions of all those who have labored and continue to work towards development and innovation here in the United States, we'll pray with our brothers and sisters across the nation.

The Cathedral's service begins at 10:15 CST and can be found on their website or by clicking here:

Join us also online Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m. for Evening Prayer via our Facebook page. This summer we will use the liturgy from Enriching Our Worship--you can find the service leaflet in the Notes Section of our Facebook page or by clicking here.

FOURTEENTH SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST:
PROPER 18

Sunday, September 6

GRANT US, O LORD, to trust in you with all our hearts; for, as you always resist the proud who confide in their own strength, so you never forsake those who make their boast of your mercy; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

We will be worshipping with our sisters and brothers online at the National Cathedral and follow their scripture readings. See the "Worship This Coming Week" section of this newsletter for the link.
