THIS WEEK IN MARKET SQUARE


ALL WEEK
Say "hello" to our friendly Market Square Park Ambassadors to play some socially-distanced outdoor games or get your voter registration form. 

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 2
Yoga in the Square continues this Wednesday from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. with instruction by Emily Jeffries from Town Place Fitness.
Plus, registration for upcoming Yoga classes has just opened up here.

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 3
The Market Square Farmers Market continues this Thursday from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Shop fresh, locally-grown produce, small-batch foods, and enjoy live entertainment. This week's part-time vendors include The Olive Tap, Always Summer Herbs, Two Acre Farms. and CinnaRoast. Entertainment this week will feature Shelley Duff.

The Market Square Farmers Market is presented by Green Mountain Energy with support from PNC Bank. 



Then, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., dine outdoors with takeout from your favorite restaurant while enjoying live music from Chloe Wiecz.

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 4
Dine out in Downtown with live music in Market Square by Dan Bubien from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 6
Enjoy yoga from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m., and keep your morning going by enjoying brunch from a number of Downtown restaurants to take home or enjoy outdoors. This Sunday's class (pre-registration is also full, but limited walk-ups are available) will be taught by Aither Yoga.

BLACK AND GOLD SUNSET TOURS


Explore the Golden Triangle during golden hour with Walk the Burgh's Black and Gold Sunset Tour.

Beat the summer heat and enjoy an evening learning about Downtown’s art, architecture, and history while watching the sun go down.

The tour is a two-hour walking tour that occurs on select Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:00 p.m.
 
Tickets cost $25 for adults and $15 for children ages 6 to 13. Learn more.

DINING OUT IN
DOWNTOWN 🍴


Support your favorite restaurants by ordering takeout and enjoying it in Market Square. Starting this week, enjoy live music from local musicians every Thursday and Friday from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.

Plus, you'll find socially-distanced tables set up throughout the Square so you can support your favorite Downtown restaurants by ordering takeout to enjoy in the heart of the city. You can find a full list of what's open for takeout here.

This week, we're welcoming musicians Chloe Wiecz on Thursday, September 3, and Dan Bubien on Friday, September 4.

TIPSY HISTORY WITH WIGLE WHISKEY: THE SPIRITED AGE OF SUFFRAGE


Join the Heinz History Center and Wigle Whiskey for a virtual happy hour this Friday, September 4!

"Tipsy History with Wigle Whiskey: The Spirited Age of Suffrage" celebrates the limited release of Suffragette Rye and tells the stories behind the spirited women who secured the right for women to vote 100 years ago.

Enjoy Suffragette-inspired cocktail recipes, a sing-a-long, and more during the virtual event.

Registration for the live virtual program is $5 per person, with the option to add a bottle of Suffragette Rye from Wigle Whiskey for $34 to your order.

John Lewis: Good Trouble follows Congressman John Lewis’ 60-plus years of social activism and legislative action on civil rights, voting rights, gun control, health-care reform, and immigration.
 
The film also explores Lewis’ childhood experiences, his inspiring family, and his fateful meeting with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in 1957.

Shopopoly is a new retail game that gets you out of the house and exploring Downtown retailers to try and win more than $1,000 in prizes, including hotel stays, gift packages, and more for the ultimate Downtown Pittsburgh staycation.

VOTER REGISTRATION FORMS AVAILABLE IN MARKET SQUARE


In Pennsylvania, the last day you can register to vote in time for the November election is October 19. To be sure you're prepared, you can check your voter registration status online, and also request a mail-in ballot.

Voter registration forms are now available by asking the Market Square Park Ambassadors throughout the week, or at the information booth at the Market Square Farmers Market. 

VOTE FOR AIA PITTSBURGH'S DESIGN PITTSBURGH PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARDS


Vote for your favorite architectural design of the year in AIA Pittsburgh's Design Pittsburgh People's Choice Awards.
 
Design Pittsburgh features an architectural design exhibition, a juried Design Awards competition, and public voting opportunity for the People’s Choice Award.
 
View over 50 projects in four categories and vote for your favorite. Voting will end on Thursday, September 3 with the Design Pittsburgh Award Ceremony being held virtually on Wednesday, September 16.
