Good morning,
Today we've got a look at lesser known and maybe even lesser appreciated style of bonsai... they've got multiple trunks but they're not forests...

Also all our shears and scissors are on sale. Including 30% to 40% off on all of our Okatsune shears and ditto, 30% to 40% off our Koyo shears. Don't fall asleep though... These specials end Sunday night

Here's what you need to know about these two Japanese brands. Okatsune are some of the very best hand tools of any kind, anywhere (they cut like butter and last a lifetime as we are fond of saying), and Koyo, which are more affordable are high quality professional and masters grade tools

Clump Style Bonsai
Multiple trunk bonsai that aren't forests

We found this extraordinary clump style Japanese maple on Bonsai Nakayoshi (sorry the link is no longer active). You can imagine that all the smaller trunks started as suckers on the roots of the main tree (you could also imagine that they started from seeds dropped by the main tree; in which case each seed would have its own roots, so it wouldn't qualify as a clump style bonsai).

NOTICE! Our warehouse will be closed August 31st until September 8th, while Ric takes a long overdue vacation. We will still accept orders during that period so don’t wait to place yours. They will be shipped on a first come first served basis when Ric returns. Thank you for your understanding.

Okatsune Masters Grade Bonsai Shears

These are our favorite bonsai shears. They combine excellent strength for heavy pruning, with a long reach and narrow tip for fine cuts. And they are Okatsune, so you know they cut like butter and last a lifetime.

If you combine this world class bonsai shear with our Okatsune bypass shears you can accomplish almost any bonsai cut (including heavy roots). If you combine both of these with our Masters' grade Sword shears, you'll have the best bonsai and garden hand shear combination anywhere. Made in Japan by Okatsune, one of very best hand tool makers in the world.
