Spread the Word for Disability Concerns
Special Sunday Offering
Greetings <<First Name>>!
Disability Concerns is spreading the word about our special Sunday designated by the denomination this year for October 18. Could you help us?
An email was sent to your pastor and deacon board on August 11 asking them to take a specific offering for Disability Concerns ministry on October 18, 2020. You can read a copy of the email at this link. Unfortunately, they could be suffering email fatigue and forgotten about it, or may have never even received it or viewed it.
Would you be willing to follow up with your pastor or a deacon to present the request once again?
On Sunday, October 18, we would encourage you to participate in a celebration of Agility! Contrary to assumptions, people with disabilities tend to be highly agile because they must navigate physical and social structures that are created by and for people who do not have disabilities. Healthy church communities learn from people who have disabilities and provide opportunities for them to lead. Besides supporting Disability Concerns, celebrating Disability Sunday is an excellent opportunity to raise awareness in the congregation and to begin new conversations with leaders in your congregation for ministering with fellow members who have disabilities.
With your continued support and advocacy for Disability Concerns, we will continue to grow even more to be a denomination that encourages all churches to be places where everybody belongs and everybody serves.
Blessings,
Rev. Mark Stephenson
