You all saw what happened at the Capitol this week.

Amidst a pandemic, the legislature convened for a special session where protesters gathered and not only broke protocol but also damaged property as they crammed into crowded committee rooms and the House gallery.

This unprecedented turn of events and the disregard for public health standards put legislators and staff at risk.

Moreover, the legislation we discussed was concerning. Not only did bills work against Idahoans across the state but many were clearly unconstitutional and, at the end of the day, are a waste of hard-earned taxpayer dollars. Here are two of the bills we addressed:
  • HCR1 - Even as we confront the COVID-19 pandemic, most of the House Republicans voted to end the emergency declaration and cut off federal emergency aid. This would have terminated access to $117 million in FEMA funding that would help hospitals and care centers access necessary protective equipment. Fortunately, this bill died in the Senate.
  • H0006 - Another House bill prioritized business interests over the people by protecting businesses, even if they act in a negligent way. This bill strips Idahoans of their right to sue, even if they have been caused harm by irresponsibly. Unfortunately, this bill was signed into law by the Governor.

Not only were these bills drafted without considering Idaho’s best interests, but they actively work against fellow Idahoans and are a waste of taxpayer dollars. It has never been more clear that we need a change in Idaho.

Despite the challenges that arose throughout the week, I fought long and hard for District 18. I'm ready to continue this fight next session and continue working to improve the lives of the residents of Idaho and District 18. It's an honor to serve, and an honor I don't take lightly.

To continue to show up and fight every day for Idahoans, I need to win this election. Please consider contributing right now to my campaign.
