Do you often find yourself procrastinating when you should be writing something for work? I developed some writing guidelines for a new client organization, and I've repurposed them here by turning them into "Fight Writer's Block and Produce Killer Content with Four Easy Strategies." I promise you, these strategies will make your writing flow much more easily!

Jewels Pedersen is the second of the Badass Black Women I've interviewed on the Finding Fertile Ground Podcast. We had a powerful conversation about her life, love, and career; Little House on the Prairie; The Color Purple; anti-racism book groups; living as a Black queer woman in Vancouver; and sundown towns.

Until she reached the age of 30, Jewels always felt something was a little off with her life. Finally, one of her close friends said to her, "You know, you're gay!"

She asked her mom to watch her three daughters so she could travel from Georgia to Portland to figure out her life and sexuality. Her mom suggested she wait until her youngest child turned 18 (she was 3 at the time).

Jewels said, “No. I have waited roughly 30-some-odd years. That’s not happening...I said, if I don’t do this, find out who I am, and take this leap, I will not be an effective parent for my children. I will not be an effective woman in the world. I will not live to my full potential...so I have to do this.”

You won't want to miss this episode! Next week's Badass Black Woman is my friend and podcast mentor, Level Up Your Life's Jackie Capers-Brown!
