BIKI BLAST: AUGUST 2020
How many miles can you Biki in 10 days?
Instead of cancelling their annual Honolulu Century Ride because of COVID-19, Hawaii Bicycling League (HBL) is hosting a special 10-day cycling event to encourage you to get exercise and accomplish your personal distance goal.
A few years ago, one Biki Member rode a memorable 100 miles on a Biki bike in eight hours wearing a sarong and slippers! We challenge you to push yourself and see how many miles you can clock between September 25 - October 4.

Because our monthly memberships offer an UNLIMITED number of 30 or 60 minute trips, you can take as many rides as you need until you reach your goal.

HBL is providing recommended routes, finisher swag and prizes, and plenty of support along the way.  Be sure to register by August 31 to join the fun.
STAYING SAFE
Biking solo for exercise and essential travel is current permitted under the most recent Work from Home, Stay at Home Orders, and we will continue to operate 24/7.
Keeping our equipment clean and our riders safe remain our top priorities. We have designated crew members who routinely go from station to station and sanitize all high-touch areas. We still recommend washing your hands before and after you ride, as you would after interacting with any shared surface. Thank you for doing your part to stop the spread of the virus, and for your continued support of bikeshare!
BIKI MEMBER OFFER
Score a deal while you support local. Morning Brew Kakaako rewards all Biki Members with 10% off food and beverages. They'll continue to offer takeout under the recent state orders. To redeem, use code "biki10" when placing your order online through 9/30.

Does not include retail items. Other exclusions may apply.

RECOMMENDED ROUTE

Now that school is back in session, you can plan your perfect bike commute to and from campus to avoid parking and traffic. This easy 1.6 mile route takes you from UH Manoa to the *almost finished* Pensacola Protected Bikeway.
DON QUIJOTE

Biki Stop #243 was installed at Don Quijote about a month ago and it has quickly become a top 10 station with over 2,000 bike check-ins and outs. Mahalo to Don Quijote for providing space on their lot to make it easy for Biki riders to pick up groceries.
PENSACOLA BIKEWAY

A few riders have asked us about the big green box at the intersection of Pensacola and Kapiolani. This "Bike Box" is for cyclists to position themselves ahead of cars so they remain visible to left-turning traffic when crossing Kapiolani Blvd. Keep an eye on our social media for updates on the project's completion.
BIKI MEMBER OF THE MONTH

"I became a member in February right before COVID-19 and it has made my quarantine life much better. Biki helps me to condition my body and gives me the freedom to ride all over town from Waikiki and Ala Moana, all the way to Downtown and Iwilei!"
