Hello to all our Rogers Park families!
You’ve made it! The first few weeks of school are behind us and we continue to get our students familiar with Canvas and build a classroom community. Thank you to each and every one of you. As a parent, I am well aware of the work/school balance right now. Setting your child up with their own workspace, having technology ready and becoming more of a daily support are all new roles this year. Parents are rocking it! Please continue to reach out to your teachers if you have questions or concerns.
I would like to invite parents to a “Coffee with the Principal” Zoom meeting every Friday. This is a time to talk with me in an open dialogue. This will be every Friday from 9:00-9:30. There is no agenda or presentation for these times. It is simply a conversation about things at Rogers Park. The zoom link below will be for every Friday starting September 4.

I know that you have a lot of emails and communication coming at you from the district, the teachers and me. We are really trying not to overwhelm anyone and at the same time trying to get you the information you need. This type of school is new for all of us. We want to be supportive and be sure we are meeting your needs. Your teacher is your first line of communication, so please always reach out to them first. The teachers are working hard to get you the information and deliver the education your child deserves. Communication is key. Communication goes both ways—teacher to family and family to teacher. Please make sure you are reading, rereading and reading emails again that come from the school. Teachers will make sure they are reading, rereading and reading emails again that come from the family. We can do this, however if there is a communication breakdown it will make things harder for everyone including your student. We’re all in this together and the only way it will work is as a team. School-Family-Student.

Nurse's Notes...
Hello, Rogers Park Families! I miss seeing your faces and look forward to when we can all be together again. I’m still busy at work getting things ready for when we can come back to school, and would love to have all of the required student paperwork ready to go so that your student(s) will be able to return smoothly.
Please be sure to fax or email updated shot records and annual Religious Exemptions to me as soon as possible (letters were sent out to students needing those last week). Also, updated Allergy/Anaphylaxis/Medication forms will be due before meds can be given at school this year. As we get closer to in-person school, I’ll have lots of health updates and procedures for you, but will save those for when we get closer to that time!
Last, but certainly not least, please let me know if you need any assistance with nursing services and/or extra meals in your household and I’ll be happy to work on getting those resources set up for you. I have made some phone calls, but don’t always know who needs assistance and would be happy to help.
***The Department of Health and Social Services website has great tips on staying healthy as well as information regarding COVID-19 and Back to School.

Counselor's Corner.....
Hello! I’m Julie Streubel and I am the part-time counselor at Rogers Park.
I’m very excited to be returning and working with all the students this year no matter what school looks like this year. I do work with all students! Students will get to know me in several ways.
- I will be teaching lessons in all the classes. Right now, that consists of me joining their regular class Zoom sessions on a 3 week rotation.
- I also offer small groups about friendship, family stress, stress management, school success and grief/loss. Although not as effective, I can conduct these virtually as well as in person when we return to school.
Parents and staff can also refer individuals to me who might need a little one on one time. My main goal is to help students be successful in school. If your student requires therapy or more intensive counseling services, I can offer some resources to meet those needs.
Please let me know if your student is struggling or could use some support from me. You can reach me by email streubel_julie@asdk12.org or call my direct number 742-4811 and leave a message.
We will get through this year together, let me know how I can help.
