What a great week it has been!

Saturday was a great day as Cuthberts and Linfield was packed from 8.30am with club players aged 4 – well, let’s say masters age for the whole day. Our MPL boys got moved to English Park for the visit of Nelson Suburbs such was the demand for space.

We have to start with yet another fantastic achievement from our WPL team. A 12-0 win v Halswell on Saturday secured a 10th WPL title for the club. The girls have been dominant again this season and the win meant 4 titles in a row, truly a great feat! There were lots of individual achievements too as it was Whitney Hepburn’s first title as captain, Una Foyle claimed another title on her 100th appearance for the club, it was the first for Margi Dias, Zoe McMeeken and Alyssa Whinham and an incredible 10th title for Chloe Jones and Mel Cameron.

A big congratulations to Juan, Heather and the team!

On Wednesday evening, the team once again proved too strong for Halswell winning 6-0 in the Reta Fitzpatrick Cup Quarter Final at English Park. Bring on the Semis!

The girls have a bye this week but play Universities next week at Linfield Park in what will be the final defense of the Hawkey Shield this season. I am sure the girls will be up for it despite already being champions.

As I said Saturday was a great day, the MPL lads did a fine job against Nelson Suburbs at English Park. A 4-2 victory keeps the boys in form and in the hunt for 2nd spot. Another match winning performance from Mika Rabuka, his 2 goals proved too much for Suburbs. The team are unbeaten in 4 games and go in to tomorrow’s match at Ferrymead Park with confidence but knowing the 3 games v Bays this season have been close and hard fought encounters. Two 0-0 draws in the MPL and a 1-0 victory in the English Cup show how even the teams are matched. KO is at 2.45pm.
