Thursday, September 17 is Give for Good Louisville, an annual day of giving for nonprofits in our area. Community sponsors provide matching funds and prizes during Give for Good, meaning a gift as little as $10 can help LRSEF excite students about STEM and provide resources, sense of normalcy, and encouragement as they navigate the year ahead. The Educational Outreach committee has been busy developing resources for students and teachers to conduct research projects remotely. Resources include science and engineering research projects to conduct from home as well as guidance to create Virtual Science Fair Clubs for your students. Take-Home Science Fair Lab Equipment Grants for Teachers
The Society For Science and the Public is offering take-home lab equipment grants to teachers who are helping students complete their science research at home. One hundred teachers will be selected to receive $1,000 in take-home kits.
LRSEF Co-Fair Director Selected as Presidential Awardee by White House
Co-Fair Director Keri Meador has been selected to receive a Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST). The PAEMST program, administered by the National Science Foundation (NSF) recognizes outstanding teachers for their contributions to the teaching and learning of science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and/or computer science.
Each awardee will receive a certificate signed by President Trump and a $10,000 award from NSF. Awardees will also travel to Washington, D.C., for an awards ceremony at a future date.
