The Disciple's Role in Social Activism

Coming up in October, MCCLV offers a four-part series of classes on "The Disciple's Role in Social Activism." The objective of the series is to explore and discuss the role of Christians in the fight against systemic racism and poverty. The four-week study will explore four broad categories of oppression against people of color and people who are poor. Both the Hebrew Bible and the Christian scriptures have prominent themes woven throughout that explicitly testify to God’s justice for the oppressed, the poor and foreigner. Activism against bigotry and poverty is a holy fight that the congregation commits to weekly, as the faith community collectively states that "MCCLV's purpose is to worship and serve God through acts of justice and compassion."

The classes will be facilitated by Lisa Noriega, Lisa Engle and other MCCLV Action Team Members. All are welcome. Mark your calendars for 10am on October 4, 11, 18 & 25. Stay tuned for Zoom video information.

WELD @ MCCLV

Welders join metal parts together and work on the metal components of various structures including bridges, power plants, buildings, refineries, automobiles or ships. In the church, welding is about connecting people to God and God's people. MCCLV's New Member process is called "WELD" because its purpose is to connect disciples with God and with other disciples.

For the first time ever, MCCLV's WELD New Member classes will be held entirely online. Classes will meet via Zoom on Tuesday nights in October @ 7pm: October 6, 13, 20 and 27.

All are welcome, register for the WELD classes and receive the first homework assignment by emailing MCCLV's Office Administrator Lauren Noll at LaurenNoll@mcclv.info
Leadership Opportunities @ MCCLV

Are you experiencing a call from God to serve in leadership at MCCLV? For 2021, there will be three open Board positions. Additionally, there is an open Outreach & Justice Ministry Coordinator position. After time in prayer and discernment, for those wanting to move forward: job descriptions and a leadership application can be viewed at this link: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1RhKidbPmzYvS_j8RhGdGAUbzJbna6Nn3?usp=sharing

These are volunteer positions: email completed leadership applications to volunteer@mcclv.info. Applications for the Board are due October 15 and are included in the annual Congregational Meeting packet. The Board election is held at the annual Congregational Meeting on November 15 @ 1pm. FYI, applicants do not run for a specific Board position - upon election, the Board determines in what capacity each member will serve. Ministry Coordinator applications are due on September 15. Praise God for the opportunity to serve God through the faith community of MCCLV.
An Abundance of Prayer
