Housing Support Handbook
Caring in Bristol, in collaboration with CHAS Housing Advice Service and the ACFA Advice Network, have created a new Housing Support Handbook for people at risk of losing their tenancy or facing money problems, and aims to give some basic overarching advice as well as comprehensive details of all the support agencies who can provide more specialist advice. As part of their Homelessness Attitudes Survey they asked people whether they would know where to go for support if they were struggling to pay rent – over 65% replied that they wouldn’t. The handbook aims to link people who need support with the relevant support services in Bristol.

Bristol Hospitality Network appeal - Can you offer asylum?
Do you have a spare room? Would you be able to host an asylum seeker to stop them becoming homeless? Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Bristol City Council temporarily housed a number of asylum seekers in hotels. When this arrangement comes to an end, without move-on accommodation, all of these individuals could return to the streets.
Volunteer Hosts would need to offer a spare room or living space for a minimum of three months. Most guests are self-sufficient and just need a safe place to sleep and a warm welcome. Hosts are able to join a support network. All guests are actively supported by BHN to make progress with their asylum claims, and BHN also provides them with food and some money.

Bristol Drugs Project
‘The Drop’ is BDP's party drugs service which provides harm reduction advice at nightclubs and festivals, training and resources for night-time economy staff and support for people who are using more party drugs than they would like. As there are no nightclubs or festivals at the moment, The Drop are taking this time to try and develop the service so it meets the needs of their target client group. As part of this, they're asking people who use party drugs to complete a survey on what they think the service should provide and how they would like to access it. Complete the survey here »
Your City, Our Future - Help shape Bristol's recovery post coronavirus
Share your views in Bristol City Council's citizen survey to help shape the future of Bristol as the city rebuilds following lockdown, and continues to adapt to the challenges posed by the pandemic. Your City, Our Future will culminate in a Citizens' Assembly where one hundred people representing every part of the city will come together to tackle Bristol’s most important issues. We'd also like to say a massive thank you to Ocean Laundry, who have donated these snazzy blue branded aprons to the team. Consumable donations are also coming in fast... Granny's Secret sent us delicious OJ, Rocks fronted up with fancy organic orange squash, and some wonderful green-fingered Bristolians have been bringing us their allotment surplus, like the enormous courgettes below!

UK wide regional rebellion: 28th August - 31st August

St Pauls Adventure Playground
Scrapbook Exhibition and Book
This September, the black and white photography of the children of St Paul’s Adventure Playground collaborating with local artists will brighten up the corners of Bristol.
ST PAULS ADVENTURE PLAYGROUND, FRIDAY 4 – 6 SEPTEMBER
AND BRISTOL-WIDE THROUGHOUT SEPTEMBER
‘SCRAPBOOK’ is a citywide photographic exhibition, and a stunning photo-book, constructed by Bristol based artist Esther May Campbell and many of the children who came to a weekly photo-club at St Paul’s legendary Adventure Playground. Over a year the photo-club explored how play-spirit, craft and heaps of improvisation can evolve into an inspiration for living. Emerging from the depths of collaboration, the ‘SCRAPBOOK’ photographs capture the risks and joys of throwing oneself into play, discovery and imagination.
The wonderful photos and playful artwork produced by the club will be exhibited on poster boards all around Bristol, as well at the Playground itself, in an enlightening and inspiring immersive exhibition.

Parallel State - Solidarity, what does it mean to you & the Parallel State
There’s a lot of talk about solidarity right now. What does it mean in this present context? Join this free online event on Saturday 22nd August, curated and chaired by Eelyn Lee, to discuss the evolution of solidarity in the formation of the Parallel State, a new place for open discourse and change. A series of invited guests will create insights and issues that face us in the coming age, with more to be announced. This is not a webinar, you are welcome to join in and speak openly too.

Black Lives Matter charity print
 ‘Black Lives Matter’, by REMO is the latest work in the heroes series. It represents the conscious shift across the world in the fight against racism and injustice, created in their signature comic book style.

Earth Bodies Collective
Newly formed, sustainable arts collective Earth Bodies - a group of fine art students, including a PRSC volunteer - are working on a zine of their own art practice, and resources of local creatives and sustainable arts organisations, as well as an eight episode podcast on sustainability in the fine art industry.
