Good afternoon,

Thanks for your patience as the school gains the information from the school surveys.  This week schools and the school board are gathering information and making plans based on the responses. There should be more information coming to families soon.  I will be in contact with our administration and we will be working hard to make sure our students and families are supported.  There are lots of
new questions being asked to the board and answers being given on their FAQ page of their website.  Please check regularly, as it has recently been updated:

Some questions I have been feilding:

  • What will the school framework look like?

We know that HHS will operate on a Quadmester with two classes/credits being offered first.  It is likely, but not certain, that these will be period 1,2 to start on your students schedule with the quadmester ending around the beginning of November.  Approximately 44 days in length.  Some students may have changes to their period 1,2 but will be notified.  Families that have chosen 'at-home' learning may have some changes to their son/daughters period 1,2 courses/credits based on the type of courses they have.
  • Will by son/daughter still get their accommodations?

Students with unique learning profiles (IEPs) will receive all of their accommodations.  These accommodations will just look different and we will need to work within the parameters of Public Health.  For 'at-home' learning students, these will look different based on the online format.  Unfortunately, we may not be able to be as creative as we have been in the past, but I will work with you, the teachers, the students and our other staff to ensure accommodations are provided.
  • Will masks be mandatory for students with sensory needs?
There are a small number of special education students with particular sensory needs that may need to be accommodated.
  • How will students/families know the new rules around health and safety in returning to HHS?
There will be communication made with students and families prior to the return of school.  This may come in the form of a handbook or information package.  It will make clear the safety protocols in returning to HHS.

I look forward to working with you soon, as we prepare for the school year.  I know this is challenging.

Stay Safe.  We are all in this together.
