Welcome back to the brew!

What's the most common phrase of 2020? "You're on mute."

Zoom sessions (and their mishaps) have been alive and well. And, today, HYPE is alive and well too, because we're counting down the days to the virtual mind-mesh that is the PM Leadership XChange, August 24-25. Talk about an all star line up of panelists!

There's still time to register for the event for only $97. All the proceeds of the event are going to Alexander Hamilton Scholars, which empowers high-achieving, yet under-served students to succeed in college and career.

Click the link below to register, we hope to see you there!

WELL WHAT DO THE NUMBERS SAY?

Solid data is a great thing to look to amongst chaos. It's kind of like a palm tree in a hurricane, it bends, but it doesn't break. In a sense, we all want to be a palm tree, right? Or we at least want to be near one.

Buildium has been doing a great job of rapidly gathering and publishing up-to-date data on the industry as we all navigate the uncertainty the pandemic and recession is bringing to us. In this quick video, Robin Young, Senior Researcher at Buildium, dives into the current state of the rental market, the impact COVID-19 has had, and shares some data from the two latest Buildium reports.

IS YOUR WEBSITE COMPLIANT AND SAFEGUARDED AGAINST LAWSUIT VULTURES?

Compliant with what? In most cases for PMs, it's the Fair Housing Act and accessibility guidelines.  This is important for Property Managers to understand to avoid being sued for non-compliance of their websites.  In many cases, if you happen to run into this issue, you can usually pay for it to go away, but it could happen again a few months later. So, it's important to ensure your website is in alignment with the most up to date guidelines.

Recently, Brad Larsen, host of the Property Management Mastermind podcast, sat down with Tim Liversage, the co-owner of Stray Cat Digital to discuss how PMs can ensure that they're operating within the legal lines of the industry.

Tune in below to dive into:
  • What specific guidelines you should be aware of
  • Common mistakes not following these guidelines
  • Where you can go to get an audit of your site at a low cost to ensure you're compliant
