Back on Track:
Fall Programming Underway

September, 2020
We are so happy to be back on the track (and field)! Fall programming is now underway with registration for the fall and indoor season having begun on September 1st. Registration will be accepted on an ongoing basis through Trackie. Please click here to register.

We are excited to announce that as of Aug 24, 2020 BC Athletics is in Phase 3, "Progressively Loosen" of viaSport's Sport Activity Chart in relation to COVID 19 protocols. This Phase allows for some regional competition and larger training group sizes with an allowed ratio of 18 athletes to 1 coach. You can read more about this update from BC Athletics here. We will continue to strictly adhere to these safety guidelines, as well as our own internal COVID 19 policies and procedures.

Over the summer, we were able to put on two successful sports camps for our younger athletes during the first two weeks of August. As well, our head coach, Dylan Armstrong, persevered and was able to get approval to hold the first sanctioned Club Throws meets for our older throws athletes (view the results on Club Meets page).

Registration

Important Information

  • We understand that it is desirable to open registration well in advance of September 1st, however, waiting allows already competitive members for 2020 to have their BCA membership last until Dec. 31, 2021 and not have to pay an extra BC Athletics fee. Next year, we will be working to better advertise programming in the summer months so that families have time to plan their fall/winter seasons. Please stay tuned.
  • BC Athletics approved a 25% discount on 2021 membership fees for all 2020 BC Athletics members. Please use the code "COVID25%" when you renew your BC Athletics membership for 2021 on Trackie.
  • Please remember that families receive a 40% discount on every additional family member the register. This will be automatically applied at checkout.
  • If you cannot afford programming, KidSport BC is a non-profit organization that removes financial barriers for youth from participating in sport. Please chat with the Club or visit KidSport for more information.

Programming

New Track Rascals Fall Session (ages 6-8)

We are running a fall session for the Track Rascals (ages 6-8) this season! This program started on September 1st and runs until October 20th outside at Hillside Stadium from 5-6pm. It is coached by Logan Hwang with the help of Gary Reed. Registration is ongoing. Additional sessions will be offered in November and January indoors.

New Track Rascals Program (ages 3-5)

We are also currently working towards running a 4 week camp for Mini Track Rascals (ages 3-5). This is planned to start on Saturday, September 19th. Details will be available soon.

Cross Country

As usual, the Cross Country season begins the week of September 7th with two groups. Our 13 and older group, and our JD group (9-13-year-olds).

Coach Sean Lehmann's group (ages 13+) will train on Monday, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 4:30-6pm at various venues in the city. Initially, athletes will meet with Coach Lehmann at Hillside Stadium on Monday, September 7th. He will then indicate where and when future sessions will take place.

Coach Miriam Dziadyk's group (ages 9-13) will train on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30-6pm beginning Tuesday, September 8th at Hillside Stadium. Practice locations may vary and will be communicated directly by Miriam.

Fall and Indoor season

Coach Dylan Armstrong will continue working with his throws athletes. These athletes, generally the older, more advanced throwers, will meet with him on a schedule determined by Coach Armstrong.

Coaches Christine Yamaoka and Mike Kern are also beginning their sprints/hurdles/jumps groups in early September. These groups are for those athletes who will be 14 and older in 2021, and who are starting to specialize in the various events that are available. Specific days and training times will be communicated to athletes directly by the coaches.

Please refer to "Our Programs" section on our website to view more details on specific program training days and times.

New Website and Social Media

Our new website has been launched! Please take some time to have a look. The address is the same - www.kamtrack.c
Following your first view, it should load at a reasonable speed.

There are still some older documents showing, but our webmaster is moving over the new things and will be providing training for a few of us so that we can keep it updated.

We are calling on all members to engage on our Facebook page. Please "like" the page and share the promotional posters to promote our club and get more members!
