Dear Friends,

After reviewing the responses, we would like to inform you of the following updates regarding Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur services. We will have an outdoor minyan option to accommodate those who have requested it, and have arranged for a large tent to be put up on the basketball court for both Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.

This year Rosh Hashanah is observed on the weekend of Friday evening, September 18 to Sunday, September 20. Rosh Hashanah night, we will all be davening together outside in the tent, at 6:30PM for both days. Rosh Hashanah day, we will be having two minyanim, a 7:30AM Hashkama minyan (taking place outside in the tent), and an 8:30AM minyan (taking place in the sanctuary). At 12:45PM there will be an additional Shofar blowing offered outside in the tent for those that need it. We also look forward to welcoming the congregation for Tashlich on the Boardwalk at Edwards Blvd the second day at 5:30PM.

Yom Kippur is observed on the extended weekend of Sunday, September 27 to Monday, September 28th. For Kol Nidrei, we will all be davening together in the outside tent at 6:30PM. Yom Kippur day, we will have two minyanim, a 7:30AM Hashkama minyan (taking place in the outside tent) and a 8:30AM minyan (taking place in the main sanctuary). Mincha will be at 5:25PM followed by Neilah at 6:00PM in the Main Sanctuary.

There will be Youth Groups run outside in a safe and socially distant manner. Masks are required to be worn by all children. On both days of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, groups will begin at 9:00AM and run until 1:00PM.

To enhance the communal feeling, take home Rosh Hashanah goodies will be distributed following service and a break-fast to go will be provided following the conclusion of Yom Kippur.

Please note that all minyanim require reservations. Face masks are required and we will be practicing social distancing. Due to the social distancing mandates, once seating is arranged, chairs may not be moved.  As spots are limited and we hope to honor as many requests as possible, we kindly ask that you reserve a spot as soon as possible using this form.

The form also doubles as a membership enrollment for the upcoming year of 5781. By becoming a BACH member, you will become an integral part of the BACH, helping to support the plethora of BACH activities for young and old, and contributing to an organization that serves you and your family with all its Jewish needs. The BACH is growing, changing, and adapting with the needs of our community, and our members play an important role in helping to further the BACH’s mission and growing the Long Beach Jewish community.

If anyone would like to attend minyan but is in need of added levels of precaution or if someone is unable to attend but would like to have shofar blown for them on Sunday, September 20, please contact Rabbi Berlin at rabbibennyberlin@gmail.com and arrangements will be made.

If you have any questions please email Robin Tassler at office@bachlongbeach.com

We look forward to a meaningful High Holiday experience together.

K’Tiva V’Chatima Tova,
