Community
Hilburn PTA has hosted Welcome Back to School drive-thru events such as Popsicles in the Parking Lot for our KinderHawks and Hawkapalooza for our new middle schoolers. And we will continue to host parent workshops and Family Night Out but his year, they will be modified to virtual workshops and Family Night Take-Out. |
It is now more important than ever to join the PTA in our mission to “make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children.”
Whatever schooling option you choose—Plan B or Virtual Academy, Hilburn PTA will be there for you! Whether in-school or at-home, PTA will continue to serve our Hawk Nest and families.
Please consider joining our PTA Family. To learn more and to join, please visit HilburnAcademyPTA.com.

Survey Results Summary
Survey results are in! Thank you to all who completed the PTA End of the School Year survey. We are grateful for your feedback and ongoing support.
In mid-June, Hilburn PTA sent out a brief survey to parents and staff to help us understand what we have done well and where we need to improve. The results provided valuable information and offered insight on where we needed to pivot so that we can continue to support our children and teachers in the current school year amid the pandemic.

Krizella de Leon joins the Hilburn PTA Board as the new VP of Communications for the 2020-2021 School Year. She is a dedicated mom of 5, with two currently attending Hilburn—Chanel in the 3rd grade and Isabel, who started Kindergarten this year. While her professional career lies in the biopharma industry, she indulges her creativity in photography and design.
Krizella looks forward to keeping our families engaged and our community connected through various available platforms despite the distance we are facing.

Green School of Distinction Award
We are proud to announce that Hilburn received the NC Green School of Quality award for taking active strides in improving and maintaining sustainable practices and an environmental education curriculum.
|
|
A Green Team was established at Hilburn to provide a positive learning outlet where students feel empowered to make a positive difference on their environment and the world around them.
Last year, the Green Team was comprised of 3rd to 8th grade students who were interested in gardening and the environment. Above is a photo of the students in bee suits when a speaker from JC Raulston Arboretum visited the school.
Be on the lookout for 🌿Green challenges! While we are all at home, we can continue to stay connected through monthly green challenges.
