Sustainable Neighbourhood News - An update for Sustainable Neighbourhood volunteers
Sustainable Neighbourhoods network gathering

Wednesday 26 August, 6-8pm
Online. Register beforehand at zoom.us, and we’ll send you instructions on how to join.

Join us for a virtual gathering of Sustainable Neighbourhood volunteers from around Lake Macquarie. Let's keep connected, and share ideas about progressing sustainability now and into the future.

We’ll be asking each Sustainable Neighbourhood group to provide a 5 minute report about:

  • How are you managing the ongoing covid situation?
  • What projects or events are you planning?

We’ll also be talking about our citywide projects, and plans for progressing them in a covid-safe environment.

All welcome! We are looking forward to seeing you there.

Citywide clean up success
Sustainable Neighbourhood volunteers did an excellent job at cleaning up five sites around the city in early August. Almost 60 people attended sites at Charlestown-Whitebridge, Pelican, Rathmines, Speers Point-Boolaroo and Toronto. The final weight of rubbish collected is yet to be confirmed, but we can see that a huge amount was removed from our local environment. Well done on an excellent effort!
Just in case you missed it, NBN News ran a great story on the event.

Covid Safety Planning
Is your Sustainable Neighbourhood group considering any face to face meetings or events as we manage changing covid restrictions in NSW?
Please make sure you have reviewed the Sustainable Neighbourhoods Covid Safety Plan, and submitted an updated risk assessment while planning for any upcoming face to face activities.
Always check the current NSW public health orders to understand current restrictions, and ensure your risk management plans remain relevant to local conditions.
