Notice to Members of the Friends of Same Inc.
The Annual General Meeting shall be held on Thursday 1st October 2020 at 2.30 P.M. at the Hawthorn Community House,
32 Henry Street Hawthorn.
Please note: In light of current Stage 4 restrictions on public gatherings and movement due to the COVID-19 pandemic and in line with the Associations Incorporation Act 2012 (the Act) which permits members to take part in general meetings by using technology, regardless of the incorporated association’s rules, it is possible that the meeting may be held by teleconference or video conference. If this technology is required on the day we will advise you with sufficient notice.
Only full members of Friends of Same Inc. are entitled to vote at the Annual General Meeting. Full members are those registered with the Secretary
by 17th September 2020.

We now rely on coffee, spice and handcraft sales
and your donations.

Friends of Same and COVID - 19 update
|
|
|
Same, like the rest of East Timor has restrictions to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The Same Youth Centre is providing education on mask wearing, hand sanitation and social distancing, and have also been providing food parcels to people in isolated villages.
Thank you to the Boroondara Central Lions for their generous donation to the Same Youth Centre's appeal for education and supplies to prevent COVID-10.
Thank you to Caritas Australia who are supplying soap, facemasks, brochures, etc to Same Youth Centre (CEFEBOM) for the prevention of COVID-19 in the community.
FOS is partnering with Melbourne University Health Initiative in sending medical supplies and equipment to Same Hospital, and FoS is seeking donations to help fund transport costs.

20 year Anniversary of
Friends of Same in 2022
We are putting together a history of FoS, we would like to ask people to write something about why and when they joined FoS, what projects they have been interested in, and if applicable please include what involvement they've had (committee member, volunteer or participant at events, visits to Same etc.).
Please send any photos that might be of interest, people can write as much or as little as they choose.
We plan to have the book collated over the next few years
to be ready by 2022.

Venancio, former FoS scholarship student sponsored by Corpus Christi Social Justice Group, at present has a scholarship to study horticulture in Arava, Israel. See photos below of his work cultivating tomatoes, cucumbers and dates. He's gaining good experience for when he returns to Same.
