Add YOUR event to our calendar
So now that we have a calendar it would be FABULOUS to add some events for visitors. You can see here or at https://www.laketekaponz.co.nz/whats-on that we have added Ice Hockey games and practice nights - visitors love local events.
To include your event, please email us with the details. It would be great to add some more events on there, golf matches , functions, races etc etc, maybe a special event that you are planning at your accommodation Even if you're not sure send it through and we'll check it out.
We have visitors emailing us already regarding the events on our calendar so get in amongst it Tekapo !

Community Development Update
The course of 2020 certainly has taken some twists and turns, and after a period of optimism and relative stability, we find ourselves, once again facing uncertainty. The role of Community Development is to connect - support - and empower the community - and this will continue, albeit in different forms!!
In the meantime, we will continue to prepare for activities and events, and will adjust if and where needed.
Wellness Week is coming up on 14th-20th September, in which we focus on the 5 Ways to Wellbeing; connect - keep learning - take notice - be active - give . https://www.mentalhealth.org.nz/home/ways-to-wellbeing/ We will be hosting various activities throughout the week including Neighbourhood Lunch at 8 Simpsons Lane (Tues 15th 12:00pm), Beginners Yoga, and a Community Clean Up on Sunday 20th. More details to follow. It is timely to remind ourselves of these 5 ways to wellbeing - as they help us to find strength and resiliency.
We are also hosting our first Arts on Tour act on Thursday 17th September - From Scratch - a unique musical performance not to be missed. Tickets are available from 8 Simpsons Lane or email mackenziecommunitytekapo@gmail.com
A reminder that support is available if you are finding it hard to make ends meet - the Food Bank is well stocked and we can also provide assistance for winter home heating costs. All enquiries and referrals are confidential - text 021 023 22741 for more info. We can also signpost help to other support agencies for health, immigration or employment enquiry. Please just ask!
A warm message of aroha to you all Xx
Penny
