Nothing in all creation

Is so like God

As Silence.

– Meister Eckhart
(13th century Philosopher and Mystic)

This is an invitation to turn inwards and take refuge in deep silence. Often, we listen not to silence, but our thoughts. We ideate, negotiate, strategise to navigate life and confuse the solutions we come up with as clarity.

Silence is the door to the temple of the mind and stillness, the sanctum sanctorum, where prayers to our Higher Self may be offered. This sanctum is a place of retreat, a place for inner questioning and exploration. It’s a place one must visit often and if possible, for prolonged periods.

Contemplative silence allows our current selves to communicate with the emerging self, creating space for healing, growth, integration; luxuries otherwise denied to us by the rush and restlessness of modern life. Silence is the perfect position from which to bear witness to the natural unfolding of the process of change. Without the grammar and geometry of what is merely on the surface, we can attend to our deeper nature, to our true self.

Often, people’s deepest secrets and pain lie concealed in the silence between the words or in the depths of what is unsayable. Free of commentary, free of judgements, the spaciousness of our silence can also become the sanctum sanctorum where another may go deeper into their vulnerability, and higher into their magnificence. To become available for another in this way is one of the most precious gifts we can give them.

To bear witness is to embrace. Become intimate with. A movement into a place of open awareness and receptivity to what is.

Silence unveils the riches of solitude. And in solitude, everything we need to know will be revealed.

We invite you to sit with us in silence, even as we contemplate on expanding our circle of compassion.
