Open Minds Online - Saturday 29th August at 2pm!

Dear Friends,
I hope all is well with you and life is starting to return to some kind of normality.

At July's meeting we welcomed a couple of new faces and we talked about the strengths and challenges that Punjabi-ness can have on our relationships. We talked about our experiences of growing up with various forms of Punjabi culture, and how family networks could be both a good and a bad thing when it comes to being LGBTQ+. We ended the meeting with the realisation that we belong in Punjabi spaces whether people like it or not!

Open Minds is about to become 'The Open Minds Project' as we start to expand our work. We'll have a website and specific resources like a podcast, information leaflets and hope to eventually work in Punjabi communities to challenge stigma and create safer spaces for LGBTQ+ Punjabi people.

We'll still be working with Sarbat and Taraki but hopefully with a much clearer purpose. If you're interested in getting involved, then please get in touch.

This month we're going to try having a weekend meeting - something that was suggested by one of our attendees. It'll be on Saturday 29th of August at 2pm and will last about an hour. If it goes well we'll try and alternate between weekday and weekend meetings in the future.  We don't have a firm topic yet - so please let me know if there's something on your mind you'd like to discuss.

If you have any thoughts on the timing change - please let me know. This group is for you!

Sign up is via Eventbrite: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/o/on-behalf-of-sarbat-and-taraki-26081441987
Any problems let me know.

With best wishes
Kuljit
