40 years in 40 seconds
This video of Habitat is four years old but it's still wonderful to watch.  You can see how the outfits, the hairstyles and the quality of the pictures have changed over the years... but what remains constant is that HABITAT BUILDS!  In the midst of chaos, depressions, recessions and pandemics - Habitat Builds!  In this newsletter you'll read how we're building more homes and how we've built foundations that have empowered our Partner Families and their children to thrive!!

2020 Builds Update
By the end of our 2020 Build Season TWENTY FIVE new people will have a place to call home!  That will bring the total number of people we've partnered with to 216!

This is 312 22nd Street, Faribault.  This will be the home of the Ali Family which includes mom, dad and 9 kids.  Eleven people will sleep peacefully and provide joy in this new home!

Once again IBEW Local 110 is providing all the electrical work for us.  This time it was the house at 313 23rd Street, Faribault.  This, too, will be for a family of 11 people!

This is what the Rindahl House at 309 23rd Street, Faribault, looks like on August 20!  What's that concrete box in the middle?  That's the "safe room" made out of concrete.  Since this house is slab on grade (meaning no basement) it's where they can go in the case of a storm.
Partner Family Updates
We love sharing stories about our Partner Families.  As we say.... once a Partner Family, always a Partner Family!  It's volunteers, donors and supporters who helped create the foundations for these families to thrive.
Manderfeld Family, 2011

We love that Carolyn keeps us updated on the events of her family!  All three kids are "off and running" - and so is Carolyn!  Luke got married, Noah got his first television job, Grace survived the weirdest first year of college ever and Carolyn is moving on up in her career with American Sign Language.  Read the whole update HERE

Yes, those are Carolyn's kids.  Yes, they are that tall.... or is Carolyn that short?  But her new daughter in law fits right in!

Simonson Family, 2007
Hunter now has his eyes set on serving our country. He will be starting Boot camp on August 24th.  He has done some great things in high school.  He was a state weightlifting Champion 2 years in a row and this year went to nationals and took 7th place. He's been a good man with strong character a kind heart and great values. He has been an amazing big brother and son. He and I have worked on many projects together over the years. I was blessed to be able to work with him the last 4 months on my biggest project to date. I'm very proud of Hunter! The sky is the limit for him!!! This is Hunter and Troy on their most recent project together.

Benson Family, 2013

The Benson Family has had a long year as they journeyed through health problems with their youngest, Iris.  Here's a post from their latest Caring Bridge.  AND IT'S GOOD NEWS!

As I write this, I am flooded with so many emotions. One year ago today is when I made the first post here. The first time I realized how close we came to losing Iris.

It would be so easy to sit and relive it all, to wallow in the pain and trauma that accompanied that day and the following month of her first hospitalization. But while I'm letting myself feel all those emotions, I'm not staying there. I'm choosing to remember how faithful God has been to sustain us, how amazingly strong He has made Iris, the push that He gave Jeff to get her to the ER. For the many medical professionals who banded together to work quickly and efficiently to get Iris stabilized and save her life for the first time. For the texts, calls and SO MANY prayers that we're being said literally around the world for Iris. I am so thankful that through everything, Jeff and I clung to each other and to Christ's love for us and for Iris. We continue to believe that God has a good and perfect plan for Iris' life, we continue to see His faithfulness.  Read the rest of the post HERE.

THANKS AMERICORPS!
Jim, Brad, Laura, Jack, Wayne and Roy.... we could not have continued to build this summer without your help!  You worked so fast we had to scramble to find MORE work for you to do.  You guys were awesome!  Thank you for stepping in to the unknown!  Best of luck on your next adventure!
