SAVE HORSE RACING IN JERSEY!
Among many aspects of Island life and familiar Island institutions punished by the Coronavirus emergency, the Jersey Race Club has been hard hit, losing 80% of its income as a result of the season being cancelled. There is a real threat to the cessation of racing in Jersey, after 188 years. You can help them here.
 
THE EARLIEST ART IN BRITISH ISLES AND IRELAND HAS BEEN DISCOVERED IN JERSEY, in a significant archaeological discovery at a Magdalenian campsite in what is now Les Varines.

THE SEA LETTUCE PROBLEM: Infrastructure staff have come up with a new plan for removing the large amounts of sea lettuce that have accumulated in St Aubin’s Bay since temperatures rose to consistently high levels.

We are featuring JÈRRIAIS – Jersey’s historic language – in the run up to the European Day of Languages on 26 September. Sophie Grigson, who grew up in a traditional Jersey farming milieu but never learnt Jèrriais as a child, tells us why she is now learning the language as an adult and David Marett details some of the missing farms in St Martin, in his article: ‘Where have all the Farms gone?’… long time passing!
