Warden's Parish News 21 August
Dear friends,
As we are still at Level 2 there will not be any services at St Barnabas on Sunday. Hopefully we will be able to resume services on 30 August – this will be a reserved sacrament service as it is the fifth Sunday of the month. Further details will be in next week’s newsletter.
The Diocesan service is available each week at 10 am on the Movement by mail website - just google movementonline and click on the link, or click on this link https://movementonline.org.nz/. There you will also find a link to the service on YouTube.
One service at 9am
There is still time to let us know what your thoughts are on one service at 9am - nothing is decided yet so let us know so we, as a vestry, can make an informed decision.
Pink Ribbon update
Thank you Suselle, Janet and Margot for offering to make this event happen. The date is yet to be decided and will depend on when we go back to Level 1. As they say, watch this space, and if you are able to help Suselle would love to hear from you.
Working bee 29 August 9am – 12 noon
At the moment we are planning for the working bee to go ahead with the required social distancing. Obviously, this will depend on the next government announcements – we will give a definite answer one way of the other in next weeks Warden’s Words (28 August).
Lyfe
Over the past months vestry have been joining together once a fortnight either by Zoom, or when possible, face to face to study the Lyfe bible study programme. Everyone has found these sessions both informative and challenging. The time together has been wonderful, hearing a little of others faith journeys, sharing our thoughts on bible passages and how they do or could impact on our lives.
This week’s session was ‘Spirit Lyfe’ and looked at a selection of verses from John’s gospel. We were challenged to think of how the Holy Spirit manifests itself to us, and to ask God to help us grow in awareness of his dynamic, life giving, energising presence as he works in and through us.
Maybe you would like to form a small group to follow this series of Lyfe studies? Everything you need is online, and each session takes around an hour. Let us know if you would like to do this and we can point you in the right direction.
Monday home group
The Monday home group at the Hammond home (4 Nadia Grove) is up and running. If you would like to join please contact Jennifer on 479 0223 or 021 0277 5255.
Faith journeys
Would you like to share your faith journey? We are thinking this could be a way to learn more about each other. It could be as part of a regular service or we could gather together for a cuppa and hear from one or two people (Covid-19 permitting of course).
And finally
We are entrusted to surrender ourselves completely to His love at every moment in our lives,
To the extent we are surrendered He will be able to love and work in the world.
We will not know while we are on earth what effect our surrender is having in the world but remember it is His work and it is important to Him.
It is very simple for us – surrender absolutely.
Take care, keep safe and be kind.
God bless,
Flora and Lee
