On behalf of the faculty, staff, and Board of Directors at Lutz Preparatory School, we are happy to welcome you to the 2020-21 school year! We recognize that in order to be successful in school, our children need support from both the home and school. We know a strong partnership with you will make a great difference in your child’s education. As partners, we share the responsibility for our students' success and want you to know that we will do our very best to carry out our responsibility to provide students a rigorous education that challenges them to meet high academic standards.
Our school has partnered with Tampa General Hospital on our reopening plan. They have guided us on multiple safety mitigation measures and procedures to keep everyone healthy and safe. We are thankful for their expertise and guidance.
Our Leader in Me focus for August and September is wellness and resiliency. You will hear lots more about this in the coming weeks.
Thank you for your support, partnership, patience, and extending grace as we bounce back into an extraordinary year. We will need to make adjustments as we go along this new path but we are on the same team in regards to wanting success for each and every student.
We are so excited to welcome back our students via eLearning and on campus tomorrow.
Sincerely,
Bonnie Guertin, Director of Schools
Kim Smallwood, Assistant Principal Elementary School
Brian Bethune, Assistant Principal Middle School
Three Wellness Questions to Discuss as a Family Daily BEFORE Leaving for School
We are relying on our families to be good citizens in our community in our efforts to keep everyone healthy and safe.
Password is: Studentid! (HCPC Student ID with exclamation mark on the end - example: 1234567!)
If you do not know your student ID or need help resetting your password please email administration@lutzprep.org
Please note, the Lutz Prep link to log into Canvas is different that that of the HCPS District so some of links in the district tutorials below will not work for LP. Our Lutz Preparatory parent accounts will be rolling into place over the next few weeks and we will send out detailed instructions with log in information soon.
The tutorials are good overviews for learning about Canvas. But, students should always use the link above to log into our Lutz Prep Canvas server.
Arrival and Dismissal Maps and Video with Q&A IMPORTANT NOTE: With the new staggered dismissal times the final time to check out your student early from the school office will be 2:00 PM on regular days and 11:00 AM on early release days.
Our staff's primary goal is to keep our students safe and healthy on campus, so during car line the majority of our staff must remain inside with our students. This means that it is more important than ever for our parents to understand our arrival and dismissal procedures to allow car line to run as efficiently as possible outside.
Please click HERE to view the Agard and Smallwood Arrival and Dismissal Show for a video recreation of how the car lines will run.
Please click HERE to visit the transportation page of our website for the new 2020-21 maps and detailed Q&A.
On campus students are required to wear the LP Uniform as outlined in charts/visual guides beginning on page 20 of our Parent/Student Handbook.
eLearning students will be required to wear a collared shirt with no logos or writing on it. Students may also wear LP uniform shirts. IMPORTANT: Persons that could also be viewed in the background of the student should also be appropriately dressed.
Red's Team Sports has let us know they have shipped out all orders placed by 8/12/2020 as they committed. Many orders should have arrived over the last few days.
Please see the following list that can be worn in place of the LP logoed polo shirt if parents DO NOT have their uniforms in place by the first day of school.
Standard uniform bottoms
In place of the required LP polo that has not been received, students may wear the following:
ANY solid colored shirt with sleeves (short or long; no tank tops) to include:
t-shirt
polo shirt
regular shirt
LP spirit shirt (to include LP clubs, LP athletic teams, LP academic teams, Leader in Me, Pay It Forward, etc.).
We DO NOT want parents to purchase any additional shirts while you are waiting for your Red's order to be fulfilled. We are in direct contact with the Red's owner and they have their staff working overtime to fulfill the large amount of orders that have come in.
If you have specific questions about your order you must contact Red's Team Sports directly.
Also, you may want to check out the parent created LP Swapshop Facebook page for uniform swapping.

We will be actively monitoring the tropical storm and provide updates to families. With guidance from SDHC we will make determinations on the status of opening/closing school this week. We will keep you all informed of any changes, should any need to be put in place.
Inclement Weather Dismissal
Regular rain does not change our normal dismissal process. If inclement weather impacts our local area please review our updated Severe Weather Policy below and follow instructions from staff in carline. We will also communicate with you via text messages through HCPS Parent Link system with the cell phone number from your student's file.
Severe Weather Policy
If lightning, weather warnings, or other weather-related elements deemed unsafe for staff and students to follow normal dismissal procedures, LUTZ PREP will halt/stop dismissal and have students and staff remain in the building until it is safe to resume. We ask that parents remain in their cars while dismissal is stopped. The school will send out messages via text system in an effort to keep parents notified of updates as the school receives them.
If your contact information changes at any time, please make sure you update your student's records with our registrar or send an email to admissions@lutzprep.org.
Thank you for partnering with us to help keep safety a top priority!
