 Earlier, when we were in the forest together, I promised to speak to you about the aura. Several years ago, already, I told you that everything that exists (human beings, animals, plants and even stones) is surrounded by its own subtle, fluidic atmosphere made up of the particles and emanations it is constantly giving off. It is this atmosphere that constitutes the aura. Of course, it is not visible, except to clairvoyants; in fact, a great many people don’t even know that it exists.
The aura is a kind of halo which surrounds every human being, the only difference being that some people’s aura is immense and very brilliant, extending its gloriously varied colours and intense vibrations to great distances, whereas others are meagre and lustreless, with dirty, blurred colours.
I have often compared the aura to the skin of our physical bodies, and you know how vital the skin is for the well-being of our bodies. It serves several important purposes, first amongst them being that of protection: like a shield or a suit of armour, it protects us against blows, sudden changes of temperature and so on. Another function of the skin is to serve as an organ of exchange which absorbs certain elements and eliminates others as it breathes in and out. And finally, the skin serves as a sense organ by means of which we experience sensations of heat and cold, physical contacts, pain, and so on.
But I don’t want to talk about the functions of the skin: that is not my field. If you want to learn more about it you can look it up in textbooks of anatomy and physiology. What I am interested in today is in drawing a parallel between the skin and the aura, for the aura has the same functions as the skin. The aura is, as it were, the skin of the soul: it surrounds and protects it, serves as a sense organ and, finally, is the means of communication which enables the human soul to receive Cosmic currents and to communicate and exchange with other creatures of the universe, even with the stars in the heavens, and with the Supreme Universal Soul.
The aura can also be compared to the earth’s atmosphere. Yes, this is something extraordinary: the earth also has a protective screen, a skin. The earth’s skin is a good deal thicker than ours, of course, but it serves exactly the same purpose. Who knows how often the earth’s atmosphere has saved it from destruction during the course of its journey through space?
All the meteors that hurtle through space could collide with our planet with catastrophic results if the atmosphere were not there to slow them down and disintegrate them before they reach the earth! And the atmosphere protects us from still other dangers: certain cosmic rays, for instance, which would be deadly for us if the chemical elements contained in the atmosphere were not there to neutralize them.
Thanks to their aura, a permanent relationship of reciprocal exchange exists between humans and the forces of nature. All the cosmic, planetary and zodiacal influences moving through space touch us and, depending on the purity and sensitivity of our aura and the colours it contains, we pick up or fail to pick up certain forces.
Our aura, therefore, is like an antenna; it is an instrument which detects and receives messages, waves and forces from the length and breadth of the universe. None of the negative, harmful influences at large in the universe will be able to reach your consciousness or upset or harm you if your aura is very powerful and luminous. Why not? Because, before they can get to you, they come up against your aura. Yes, the aura constitutes an impenetrable barrier, a protective wall.
