Today is the 21st Sunday in Ordinary Time

23rd August 2020

Dear Friends,

Today is the 21st Sunday in Ordinary Time. Click here for the Scripture Readings. In today's Gospel reading we hear Jesus proclaiming that Peter is to be the rock on which the whole Church is built. Pope Francis is the 266th successor to Peter the fisherman and we pray that one day the whole church will be united once more around the one Successor of Peter, just as Our Lord intended and prayed for.

Sad News
Sylvia Hearn, our dear friend and sister in Christ died peacefully at home on Thursday morning. Late on Tuesday night I was privileged to anoint her and fortify her with the Last Rites of the Church whilst she was still conscious. Sylvia was faithful member of our church for many decades and her needlework and vestment making was renowned and loved not just here but across the Church of England, she will be missed. Please pray for her soul and for Sandra her niece who has cared for her so beautifully. He funeral mass will take place at the beginning of September once the building works have finished, details to follow.

Weekday Mass times
Because of the current restrictions and the building works in church we will follow a simplified pattern of mass times until 6th September when we hope to be back in church.

Sundays 9.30am     outdoor Solemn Mass at Old St Pancras
Wednesdays 11am  Mass in St Paul's Church followed by coffee
Thursdays 10am      Mass at Old St Pancras followed by coffee

Simon, our Director of Music will be emailing later with musical reflections for this Sunday.

I look forward to seeing many of you at 9.30am for the outdoor Mass.

Every Blessing,

Fr James
