The Bridge to Health Survey is OUT!
Get excited!

In case you're wondering what is the "Bridge to Health Survey?", here's a bit of information, along with why it's important to us here at Bridging Health Duluth, our partners and the communities we serve.

Bridge to Health Survey: Important to your Community

During late August, thousands of Northland households will receive the 2020 Bridge to Health Survey. The survey has been conducted every five years since 1995, and seeks to answer the all-important question “How Healthy is the Northland?” The comprehensive survey includes questions related to physical and mental health, nutrition, exercise, tobacco and alcohol use, dental care, insurance coverage, access to care, access to internet, social connection and belonging, and COVID-19 impact. All survey responses are confidential.

Area hospitals, clinics, public health, community organizations and others draw heavily on the information collected through the Bridge to Health survey to understand local health needs and develop programs, increase access to services, and establish innovative solutions with partners to improve the health of everyone in the community. Bridging Health Duluth has had the amazing opportunity to use the Bridge to Health Survey Data for planning evidence-based interventions addressing key issues highlighted in our Community Health needs Assessment. Some of these included mental health, alcohol, tobacco and other drugs, socioeconomic disparities and obesity.

Over 50 health and community organizations in the region are working together to conduct the survey, including Bridging Health Duluth. We hope that if you get the survey, you will complete it.

More information is available at BridgeToHealthSurvey.org, or on social media at www.facebook.com/bridgetohealthsurvey, on Twitter @Bridgetohealth, or Instagram at www.instagram.com/bridgetohealthsurvey.

You're probably wondering, "How can I do my part"?

Well, its easy as eating apple pie! Here's what you can do so we don't miss you!

1) Take the survey! Why? Our collaborative effort is done to better serve YOU. If we miss out on your voiced needs, we miss out on an opportunity to make our community a better, healthier place. If randomly selected this fall, completing your anonymous survey will help lend insight to the health of our community. Local health and community organizations use this information to plan and implement community-driven programs.

2) Spread the word! It ain't no thing but a chicken wing, right? Help us reach those voices we might miss! Clink on the following link and share it with your network on social media. We appreciate your help with this step.

3) Lend a hand! Lend a helping hand to your community without even leaving home! If you're randomly selected to receive a bridge to health survey this fall, you have a chance to provide valuable insight to the health of your community. The anonymous data collected by the Bridge to Health Survey is then used by local health and community organizations to shape the programs they offer.

Here's what happened this week that you might have missed.

The City of Duluth's African Heritage Commission was accepting applications for a seat on their NEW 7-person commission. The deadline was on Monday 24th August, 2020. We send well wishes to everyone who has applied!

What is the Duluth African Heritage Commission? It was created this past May with the purpose of ensuring that the views of the African Heritage community are incorporated in the decision making, future planning, and stewardship of the city of Duluth. The commission will act as a guide in the development of public policy, planning, and services so that the African Heritage community is adequately represented in City processes. The commission will also act to increase understanding and acceptance of the African Heritage community and culture and to increase African Heritage community involvement in all aspects of community affairs in Duluth.

WHEW! You made it to the end!

Thank you for sticking with us! We appreciate it.
