Gov. Pete Ricketts was among the dignitaries in Seward Saturday for the dedication of a new flag at the Seward Parade of Flags. The new flag is for the U.S. Space Force, a new branch of the armed forces. The dedication was the first in the country for the flag.

Corona counter
As of Aug. 21, the total of COVID-19 cases has increased by 13 in the Four Corners District:
- Seward County has nine new cases for a total of 155 cases, and 99 have recovered.
- Butler County has two new cases for 72 cases total, and 57 have recovered.
- Polk County has two new cases for 28 cases total, and 23 have recovered.
- York County remains at 99 cases, and 79 have recovered.
The total cumulative number of COVID-19 cases in the Four Corners District is 354, and 258 of those have recovered.

Centennial and Milford softball hosted games Saturday. Centennial went 1-1 against Bishop Neumann and FCEMF, while Milford was 2-1 in its home quad. The Eagles lost to Nebraska City but beat Cass and Wilber-Clatonia. Seward's softball team went 2-1 at the Freeman Invite, falling to Platteview but beating St. Cecilia and Falls City.

Milford football opener canceled
Milford High School's season-opening game against Malcolm has been canceled because 19 members of the Milford football team are undergoing quarantine for potential exposure to the coronavirus.
Malcolm will now host Fairbury in the Malcolm Kickoff Classic Celebration with Honorary Grand Marshall Jack Tarr. Kickoff Friday, Aug. 28, is set for 7:30 p.m.
