Dear Real Life Family,

What a delight it was on Sunday afternoon to gather with some of our members for our delayed mid-year Congregational Gathering! Together we were able to celebrate:

God's generosity through his people with regard to financial giving
the work of the staff team and volunteers in adjusting to the realities of ministry in the midst of a pandemic and
God's work through the expanded reach of our worship services through streaming online

Moving forward we also heard about some of the work being done to make a "hybrid" of in-person and online engagement for church life more possible through investing in the right equipment and modifying our infrastructure.

It continues to be wonderful to hear about how people gathering in Missional Communities meaningfully engage with the worship service stream & one another. The feedback is so positive and I have personally been encouraged as we have hosted one in our own home. If you want to be a part of one, just let us know!

Tonight (Monday) we will take opportunity to gather the leaders from across the life of the church to be encouraged, inspired and equipped. Please do your best to be there (if you are comfortable within COVIDSafe protocols and considerations). This will be an opportunity to engage with the dynamics of leading in the new world that we are experiencing. I cannot stress enough that:

Our circumstances have changed... but our mission has not!

Following last weekend's additional restriction announcements for the Greater Brisbane area (including Logan City) we have continued to monitor updates. As we follow the COVID Management Plans that we have in place, we are able to cautiously continue with the in-person activities that we have running with one amendment:

Life Groups and Missional Community gatherings should be limited to 10 people in total within a household until further notice.

There was some ambiguity with the initial restrictions stated by the Government, but we want to be consistent in our ongoing approach in keeping our church community and the broader community safe - and being a good witness in the process.

As has been the case throughout this pandemic season, if you are unwell in any way, or show any cold or flu symptoms, or have visited a listed COVID-impacted venue within the stated time frames, then please get tested and do not attend any in-person gatherings.

The last R & R planned outing needed to be cancelled due to COVID-19 safety but here they are trying once again to plan a nice time out, pending COVID safety at the time. For details please read Kay Schweitzer's letter below.

Day out to Colleges Crossing

We believe and know from experience at Real Life that prayer is POWERFUL. As part of our commitment to pray, there are multiple opportunities that you can jump in on:

The long-standing Church-wide Prayer Meeting is held on the first & third Mondays of the month at 7:00pm via ZOOM. All are welcome. The next one is August 17th. The link to join the meeting is here.

Ps Clare is hosting via ZOOM every Friday 6:30am to 7:00am with a focus on praying for the Next Generation ministries. Anyone of any age and stage is welcome to participate. The link to join the Zoom meeting is here.

Angela is hosting an in-person prayer time after the office closes on Wednesdays in the Calvin/Wesley rooms (downstairs) from 12:00pm-1:00pm. For COVID safety (or if the meeting is cancelled), please let her know if you plan to come by email or phone 3387 5777.

If you cannot make any of these 3 prayer times but would seriously love to dedicate time in seeking God in prayer, then why not start your own prayer time? Please contact the office or any of the ministry team, we would love to help you get started!

My friends, while we find ourselves in new and highly disruptive times, I do believe that these times are filled with potential for the gospel of Jesus Christ to be shared and for his kingdom to be experienced by more and more people. It remains a season for discerning prayer, for adventurous faith and for wisdom. May this week be a week for all of those things for us all.
