I am a NC voter and was excited to receive my ballot by email a few days’ ago. I returned my voted ballot the next day in the same way, and within an hour received confirmation of my submission.

VOTE as soon as you can

In my email on Sunday, I urged you to send in the Federal Write-In Absentee Ballot (FWAB) as a backup to protect your vote.  Until the end of September, this is only important for those of you who vote in the 19 states that currently require overseas voters to return their voted ballot by postal mail (rules are changing--you can check state requirements on www.votefromabroad.org/states).

Mail in your state ballot too when you receive it, around September 19. This is not voting twice. If both your FWAB and official ballot reach your state in time to be counted, your Election Official will discard the FWAB and only count the official ballot.

If your state allows your voted ballot to be returned by email, web portal and/or fax, use one of these methods -- see instructions on www.votefromabroad.org/faqs/22.  You can confirm that your voted ballot has been received by checking with your Local Election Official or via a state website: go to www.votefromabroad.org/states and scroll down to Where’s My Ballot?

But if you have not received your ballot by the end of September, complete and return a FWAB, by email or fax. If you eventually get your state ballot, return it as well.

VOTE as soon as you can
