Join the Indivisible Chicago Alliance Texting Team! Texting is a great way to connect directly with voters in addition to making phone calls and writing postcards, especially in a pandemic when we can’t canvass. And it's a great way to reach voters who we can't get a hold of with phone calls. Join us for a training to find out more about texting!
We are starting two new programs this week, texting to get out the vote (by mail and early) in Wisconsin and Michigan for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris (and down ticket candidates) with the state Democratic parties. Sign up now for training and to text bank with us or to text on your own!
Texting Tuesdays textbanks are with the national IndivisiText program. At this time, this program is at capacity, so these textbanks with Indivisible are just open to our volunteers who have already completed IndivisiText training with us for TextOut and Slack. Thank you!
Volunteer with the Wisconsin Voter Protection Team!
Wisconsin is often referred to as the breaking point state—as goes Wisconsin, so goes the country. That means that Voter Protection is more important than ever. Every vote is critical, every voter should have their vote count, and every voter we can help make their voice heard brings us one step closer to taking our country back. Check out the different types of volunteering opportunities we offer and see which ones sound right for you, whether you live in Wisconsin or not!

JOIN TEAM CASTEN FOR PHONE BANKING TUESDAYS & THURSDAYS!
We're calling folks to check in to see how they are doing, and if they will support Casten this November. We worked hard for these seats in 2018, and we'll need to work even harder to keep them for 2020!
In the coming weeks, we'll all be getting more involved with taking action with the Biden/Harris campaign. Check out our blog for many ideas and lots of information about how we can all do our part to help them win on November 3rd!
Registering to vote has never been easier or more convenient. We have created a resouce that you can access on our website blog with all the details about making sure you are registered and have a plan to vote. We have included deadlines for things like registration (in person and online), requesting and returning your mail in ballot, ballot drop boxes, dates for early voting, election day information and more.
Voting by mail is considered the safest form of voting during a pandemic. And all Illinois residents can apply NOW to request a vote-by-mail ballot.
Sign up to phone bank, lobby, write letters to the editor and advocate with Indivisible IL in support of expanding access to voting during the COVID19 outbreak and educating voters about newly passed legislation.

FEATURING DAVID AXELROD, SCHYLER TRAVIS AND CONGRESSWOMAN SCHAKOWSKY
Directed by Indivisible Evanston member and volunteer Bob Hercules, the documentary film MIKVA! DEMOCRACY IS A VERB premiered online at the Gene Siskel Film Center on September 11th and will be available through Sept. 24th. In the lore of Chicago politics Abner Mikva was famously the ‘nobody that nobody sent.’ But, ironically, Mikva became a passionate advocate for democracy and ethical government, racial justice and gun control who inspired thousands, particularly young people, to effect change. “Mikva! Democracy is a Verb” chronicles both his rise from an impoverished childhood to an epic career as a legislator in Springfield and Washington, Federal Judge and White House Counsel and how his work is being carried on today by his legacy organization, the Mikva Challenge.
This sweeping story shows Mikva prevailing over the powerful Daley machine, challenging the National Rifle Association, amending the Constitution to give 18-year-olds the right to vote, striking down the Pentagon’s ban on gays in the military, and grappling with the 1978 neo-Nazi invasion of Skokie, Il. The film features his protégée, President Barack Obama, Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky, political consultant David Axelrod, former Wall Street Journal reporter Al Hunt, advisor to 7 Presidents, Newton Minow, and allies and family to show how Mikva’s values and skills are sorely needed in public life today. (Description courtesy of Bob Hercules)
Please join us on Wednesday, September 16 at 7pm CDT for a special Facebook Live Q&A with director Bob Hercules and film subjects David Axelrod, Jan Schakowsky, and Mikva Challenge student Schyler Travis. The discussion will be moderated by "Chicago Tonight" host Phil Ponce (WTTW).
This year, it's not enough to vote. In 2020, we all have to act. And we can still stay safe and take action from home.
In 2020, Indivisible Evanston is working hard to win back the White House, the Senate, Wisconsin and to keep our gains in the House and here in Illinois.

Indivisible Evanston Mission Statement
The mission of Indivisible Evanston is to resist Donald Trump, his administration, and like-minded Members of Congress, and to remove them all from office on November 3, 2020, before they replace our democracy with an authoritarian plutocracy. We do not expect our members or allies to agree on all issues, but we invite those who agree that the Trump presidency is harming our country to work together to replace him and his GOP enablers. We seek to be as inclusive and diverse as possible, and we are committed to non-violence in all our actions.
