Information Security Risk - Teaching Remotely
There are particular challenges regarding online learning for students in other countries. Questions about privacy, surveillance, and free inquiry may arise among students in countries with different laws, cultural norms, and monitoring by law enforcement. For more information, see the
memorandum from Vice-Dean Teaching, Learning & Undergraduate Programs, Professor Katherine R. Larson saved on the
OVPD CAD SharePoint in conjunction with
information from the Office of the Vice-Provost, Academic Programs and Vice-Provost, Innovations.
CAD Resources
The shift to remote and online teaching this year presents unique challenges to instructors, which may include access to necessary equipment. See the
CAD SharePoint for information on how to ensure all instructors have the tools they need to undertake online teaching and provide an optimal learning experience for students. Also included on the
CAD SharePoint are the minutes from the last CAD meeting, along with past agendas, notes and presentations. The next
CAD meeting is
25 September.
In-Person Activities Contact Tracing
All in-person activities will have a mechanism to support contact tracing. The ROSI record will be used to determine registered students. For office hours and study sessions, divisions may specify a particular contact tracing method to use (e.g. the
Bookings tool), or an instructor may adopt an approach of their choosing (Bookings tool, Word or Excel document, etc.), as long as the information is retained. Regardless of the activity,
the in-person gathering limit of 50 people must be observed.
Professional/Pedagogical Development Support Fund
September 30 is the deadline for Teaching Stream faculty to submit top-up funding requests to Business Officers for the Professional/Pedagogical Development Support Fund. Each full-time, continuing track, Teaching Stream faculty member may apply to receive up to $1,000/academic year (i.e. from 1 July 2020 – 30 June 2021) to support related activities.
Zoom Education Licences
U of T instructors and staff can now host Zoom interactive meetings with up to 300 participants at no charge. See OVPD COVID-19 Messaging for more information.
