Apple Special Event Tuesday - For What?

Hi <<First Name>>,

Every September, Apple holds its traditional product announcement event where the tech company introduces its new fall product lineup. With the biggest hype usually around the newest iPhone models.

But this is an unusual year due to the pandemic, and might be unusual for Apple's event as well.

That being said, it is now being speculated by media outlets that Apple's annual big September event may be split into two events. The reason, the production for the new iPhone 12 lineup is behind schedule due to supply chain side effects from the pandemic.

What we know

On Tuesday, September 15, Apple will be holding a virtual Special Product Announcement Event from the Steve Jobs Theater, on Apple Park in California. The event theme is "Time flies", which one would assume refers to the Apple Watch.

Here is what is expected at the event

Bloomberg reports the September 15 event will only include iPadAir 4 and Apple Watch 6 details, and not the new iPhone 12. The iPhone 12 will reportedly be saved for October (exact date unknown.)

Apple is also reportedly planning to announce Apple Studio over-ear headphones, new "AirTags" item trackers (similar to Tile), and more. Some of these announcements are possible at the September 15 event, but others could be saved for a future October event.

At last, Apple’s September event will also likely include details on the firm release dates for iOS 14, iPadOS 14, macOS 11 "Big Sur", watchOS 7, and tvOS 14.

Where to watch

Starting time: San Francisco: 10AM / Chicago: 12PM / New York: 1PM (September 15th).

Event live stream: Apple’s live stream is available on its website, in the Apple TV app (available on most Apple devices), Twitter and likely on YouTube for streaming on desktop. It’s also available through the Apple Events app on the Apple TV.

If you can't watch the event live, you can watch the recorded version on Apple's website or through the Apple TV and Apple Events apps.

A Few Teasers

It is being reported that Apple has developed a new iPad Air 4 model that features an edge-to-edge display. This would serve as a middle-ground option between the $329 iPad and the iPad Pro. The new iPad Air could reportedly feature Touch ID authentication built into the power button for the first time.

The Apple Watch Series 6 is believed not to have any major design changes, but may include a new casing option in the form of plastic. Plus, it may include the often-suggested feature of blood oxygenation monitoring.

Breakdown of the event announcements

Please know, no matter what Apple announces on September 15, I will be providing a breakdown of all products in a special edition to be released later next week. So please look for that.

Enjoy!
